Heading to the land of Pliney the Elder
Taking a trip to San Francisco then driving down to LA.
Beside's Russian River any recommended breweries or craft beer pubs to hit?

You should probably hit lagunitas in Petaluma if you are going to Santa Rosa for RR. 101 North is also in Petaluma. They didn't exist last I was out there, but I understand they have some good beers and the place is nice. In SF, check out Tommy's Mexican Restaurant for tequila and margaritas. It permanently altered my alcohol consumption patterns. There are better places for food, but not for tequila. While you are there, drive up the coast and check out this house for me. My wife and I were eyeing it if we won the lotto. I forget to get a ticket, but it didn't matter. http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...0_M23865-80769
Seriously though, if you have the time, go north on 1 before you go south. It is heaven

Between SF and LA is my favorite "wine country", but Sonoma and Russian River may be a trip this fall or next spring.

If you are going to be in SF for any length of time, go to Alexander's for dimmer. Best steakhouse I have ever been to and I use to take customers to all the best all over the US.

Not even sure how I ended up with a beer trading relationship that resulted in a fairly fresh pliny but I did. very good and well balanced I thought. Still love my east coast brews but this one swayed me a bit!
