send it to shimano, fill out their online form, check all the boxes so they go thru it, they go thru the whole thing for like $25, rarely charge for new parts

Check their pdf on their service site to make sure they still support your reel or your sending in, only to have it returned. I took Sea Dangles advice and sent mine to Ricks Reel Service in FL, as 3 out of the 4 I was sending in are no longer supported. Good support, good communication and they don't bill you until you are satisfied with the repairs; I'd definitely use them again next fall.
Send it to Shimano is good advice. My Stella came back with new pinion and main gears, etc for $30. Same service with daiwa cost me hundreds. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device
I sent numerous sustains to Shimano for repair and have always been pleased with their service. As has been mentioned they frequently don't charge for some of the parts they replaced Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device
