Surfcasting Access threatened in Newport

Here we go again. Every few years the issue raises it's ugly head.
Seems like it's been one life long battle for me.

Shame, is what it is Dennis, I remember being able to park in the CH lot itself...so long as you kept away from the Inn and parked at the outer edges you were ok, of course that got ridiculous and people got messy which stopped that completely (people changing baby diapers in the woods and leaving them along with bags of trash from home? wth?).. Then there was the small lot in front of the cottages (which I thought your club took over at some point? Before the rope or cable went into place?) which I'm not sure still exists, but guessing not?....There was always that little parking area where Ella Terrace now resides,...you could squeeze a few cars there too, but the billionaires ended that quickly....and lastly, the spot in the article. Little by little, it's being taken away. Some rightfully so...some not.

I guess we're still lucky they haven't gated the park after hours....I always leave a note on the dash for the officers that I'm fishing (which has always served its purpose).

I guess I just wanted to say THANK YOU to you and the club members for fighting the fight. A LOT of this type of work goes unnoticed and unappreciated...I'm sure I speak for a lot of (out-of-town) folk when I say thanks for all you've done and continue to do.
Wishing I lived closer...or I would have never left the club

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Thanks Bloo - our club actually has a good relationship with CH inn at the moment. They limit fishing access there to only our club members who have CH issued cards and special guests/friends of the inn. But relationships can be fleeting for a variety of reasons. We don't take that access for granted as a change in management can mean the end.
