man, that sucks. always stopped in there on the way to or from Cutty. Always a walked out with one of a few BMs left on the walls (sometimes a gem) or a new super strike darter. Part of our island ritual.
bummer.

Hope Charlie finds happiness in retirement.
My son & I had him build us 4 custom tuna rods for the 130s.
Guy does beautiful work but what a miserable bastard to
Deal with.

True statement right there
I went down last winter to buy some rod finish since they sell the type I want. I was looking over the shoulder of a woman wrapping rods to see her technique and see if I could learn more than I know.
Charlie went off on me and said how’d you like it if someone was watching you etc etc. I was like whoa..... you need a hug or something. Not good way to win a customer. Way over stressed.
Other than that it’s a great shop. Always felt his ‘custom’ rods were reasonably priced in comparison to others.
Many other tackle shops get thier rods from cms. There gonna need a new vendor.

To think of the number of CMS road I've had made, fished twice then sold at a profit to some dude in NJ.
