SAVE THE HISTORY
I was able to buy from the estate of Bob Pond before the home went up for auction a bunch of 16mm films and other personal items.
I was able to salvage some great early photos / slides and 16 mm films .
Some of the best stuff I found are early meeting minutes from 1955 tru 67 , nice vintage hand wrote notes about striped bass and misc. clubs in mass.
These guys were very active to save Stripers even in the early days. I also was able to save lots of photos from his research days from VA .
Truth be told I went back and saved the films from the dumpster , not even knowing if they were any good at all J After I picked up 2 old projectors a vintage silver screen J and an external speaker for sound (no idea if the films have sound or not ) I was able to watch a bunch of them, A few examples are all his research films from the late 60’s-early 70’s
Bob broke ground with his research and studies of the Atlantic coast and the striped bass habits and breeding . And I have them all on film !!
Other vintage films are true New England Clam bakes, the good old days , I found a few of them ! Mass Bass distance casting and early bread trucks and over sand cars/jeeps / ETC
Nice Early cuttyhunk fishing , Some to die for Vineyard footage J some footage shows the red clay at GayHead about ½ mile out in the water , unreal video footage. Nantucket etc etc etc
Some of the film is in bad bad condition , breaking apart just looking at it , every time I watch it we lose a few more feet that can’t be replaced. I need your help to SAVE this footage
I have checked into converting over to DVD and the cost is unreal , I have even thought about just re-recording onto my old sony camcorder , but the results were bad and a waste of time and energy. We need to have these restored. Simple J yes . With your help and donations ! I hope to be able to show some films at ITFCTFN (sp) this winter …lol
