75th Derby
There is a Derby this year, the 75th, but it will likely be very different in many ways.
Still going on island as much as work and wife will stand for.
Derby page is down the list a ways.

I’ll be over the 20-24 fishing as much as the wife allows. Luckily she sleeps late and likes to sit on the beach all day

You know it’s a weird year when this post can be confused with the Kentucky Derby...

I just found my Derby hat from the last time I fished it. 1997.
Much different world then.

Yeah, there were actually some stripers to catch back then. Was right after the beginning of the restoration.

It was and there were big fish. I had a 38# that didn't even get a pin.

As much as I would love to be on island, it's not happening this year. At least I can participate by buying a Derby facemask/gaiter with MV chart and logo... Nice they have an online store this year due to pandemic.

I’m a hater. Ruins the boat fishing for the best part of the fall season. I’m hopeful that at least the boats targeting bass will be less this year

I'm a Derby Hater also... but less so this year: They removed striped bass from the derby kill. AND, the Derby eliminated the so-called "Mystery Prize" category. God, I hated that. Imagine a derby contestant, or worse yet, a Father... teaching his son or daughter to kill and enter anything so to be in the running for a "Mystery Prize".
