Smokey would tie some red bucktail coming off the hook to lengthen it and give it a "Flaming Butt----".
Sounds like a great day Chris. I've been up there. About 16 years ago.

Saltheart
Its a nice park about 5 minutes from my house . I go there alot with the kids in the spring and hike to get back into the long walk mode . We strolled to the castle up top . what a view from up there . then took the red traingle trail straight down the mountain . A little cookout at the picnic area . Then a little casting at another park around the area . I had a great day so did the girls ! Them is some hiking kids we produced .

Probably not the Pete you're thinking of, "Big Pete the Fishin Fool", and I try to keep the big part under control, no success. See you there.

I'll be there one of the days probably hit a pond first then come around mid-day. If any one wants to do some bass fishing before the show drop me a PM. I should have an opening. Sorry these will be the sweetwater little cuz's of those striped ones. Commonly called "bait" by "I only fish for Stripers anglers"

Fisherwoman, you tie teasers this winter?
I originally was going to Florida that weekend, but we got great flight deals the first weekend in April.
So, I'll be down one of those days. Hopefully, I can pick up some teasers along with GS' secret jerky baits.

Question about hooks and HitchHikers. Find out that Tru-Turn, or should I say the parent company (TTI Companies) has the patent #4841665 on the "screw-lock" idea. I couldn't justify my time to turn them out in stainless, but finding there's a patent on the idea, pretty much makes that decision for me. If enough guys want the large size HitchHikers, I might consider ordering the 1000 minimum. They will work well, but a couple big stripers or larger blues tend to straighten them out, as they are copper not stainless.
On the hooks, I'm waiting for Owner to get back to me with an answer on their 5319 jig hooks, which are my favorite. Again, they want me to order in pro packs and then full cartons, which is some 1000 hooks. That's assuming I offer them in 3/0, 5/0 and 7/0 sizes. I've asked if they will sell less, but then again most of you guys use jigheads, so I question the logic of me stocking hooks. If I'm wrong tell me and I might see about bringing some to the show. If not maybe MikeCC stocks them and can bring some along.
There were some sweet looking metal jigs in the Owner catalog they sent me. Any of you metal nuts throw those Jig'N Minnows or the Jacky Jigs, nice paint jobs and big doll type insert eyes. Then I saw all the Saiki rigs and thought of FW, you ever use the Squid Skirts. They look neat and I don't think I've ever seen them in any of the tackle shops around me. Many nice hook designs I never saw before, one in particular looked sweet, because it has a built in screw lock or Twist "N" Hold Shank as they call it. It's their Sled Head and comes in 1/8 to 1/2 oz and 2/0 to 4/0 hook sizes. They say fresh or saltwater, anyone use those style heads, I've got to try some in the 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 oz size but the minimum order will kill me.
Fumes are calling me .

GS
I will bring Mustad & Gamakatsu jig hooks to the show.
the largest jig hooks that Owner ,Gamakatsu and other Japanese hook makers will sell is 5/0.
I know that they make bigger but they flat out will not sell me them . so I have brought in 3/0-5/0 in Gama, and up to 8/0 in Mustad. If you need some for your plastics I'm sure we can work some thing out.

Yes, the winter has been mild. Its been great to be able to tbe outside on the weekends and to tinker around in the garage.
But, the fact remains that we aren't fishing. I know that there are fish down in the Thames, but the thought of towing down there and dealing with a bunch of boats isn't appealing. I think GS has the right idea going down during the week.
But, its not the same as fishing local. Being able to go when you want and not spending 3+ hours of driving time.
Maybe we can get John to bag a day and the three of us will make the trek down to CT... or if we get a good forecast, a little cod action.
I'm going to the Saltwater Sportsman seminar this weekend, but maybe the weekend after that, or even sunday if the weather is good. Let me know if you're interested and maybe I'll get my butt in gear and get my boat reg. done.
