TFF..Dont worry about it...The main thing is your family is safe...Let the insurance company handle everything else...if its yours or the land lords...Sounds like it should be the land lords problem..good luck

whell.....
we're all covered.... the landlords ins. co. will cover everything they need to,, and my renters policy will cover everything they need to.
we have 12k worth of "loss of use" so they will foot the bill for a hotel..
we we're assured anything that needs to be done will be done..
i just called servicemaster and there on the way to have a look..
were still waiting on the kids blood test results..

It's just stuff. We had a fire in the house when i was a kid.Stayed at a hotel for a week or so then it was with friends.I always remember that time it was a unique experence made us closer as a family. I was 4 or 5 yrs old....
I hope ur family is OK.Ur head musta been spinnin sometimes we loose perspective it happens to everybody.Forget that u have to be upbeat for ur family.its easy to turn things around.

lookin' good so far.
servicemaster was here within two hours of callin them. you would not believe what six guys can clean in one day looks like a hospital in here. top to bottom you name it!!! it is clean..
first floor is done. top floor and the cave tomorrow.
then the basement monday.
they gotta take down 30 rods and reels and tons of plugs and clean EVERYTHING in the cave. i peeked up here today and one was cleaning the cleaner bottles in the cleaning cabinet.....
HUNDREDS of baby/kids toys you name it even reciepts notes i had kickin arround.. they clean it all... very impressive i must say... once you can get over the fact there's 6 total strangers going thru everything in your house it's smooth sailing...
stuff they can't get clean my policy will replace. we'll have to get to that later.???might have to paint a few walls etc. electronics damaged etc..
kids are fine... blood tests are fine.... there all up in a 2 bedroom hotel right arround the block, while bag up stuff like laundry and stuffed animals and such..
all good so far..they even cleaned my keyboard like there bossman sais. "were good at what we do"!!
when life gives you lemons,,, make lemonade ..

still.........
unless you can run a filter in the house in say a new shop vac
or other air purifier.... and it shows itself to be pefectly soot free
theres gotta be some residual soot in the air that will get inhaled
at a later date... so if it was me... i'd be wanting to make sure
that something was forever cleaning the air 24/7 until it ran for a week and was spotless.
And since your family (kids) had black boogers they'll need cleaner air than before to breath
for some time to help
give their lungs a break.
i'm happy for you that those guys are doing such a fine job.

Mike, good to hear things are on the way to recovery.
I hope all the family are A OK and your stuff is fine.
I wonder if they are gonna clean up the electrical outlets and suck them clean and around any pipe openings as well since the soot seemed to travel up through there.
Make sure all the freak plugs are fine.

an update..
servicemaster finished up today. as i said : there good!! 6 guys-4 days. my basement is clean. the house is clean.. shampood the couches you name it,everything, clean. they sent a dry cleaner over to take all the clothes, bed spreads, curtains, everything they could make a buck on they took. my suits, her wedding dress.babys crib dressing, you name it. dry cleaners picked 'em up and will return clean and pressed...
landlords ins. adjuster was here today. sais"not clean enough" they will paint the WHOLE place! top to bottom, no problem,.it's covered.
as far as the stuff stuck in the walls/outlets? nuthin they can do. it's in the walls like 80 years of other crap.so when it blows n/e at 30 it might puff out a little?? thats ok with me, it's done it's damage. it's only soot..
as far as personal belongings we'll have to get to that later.
thank god for insurance!
so far so good. i just want to get it DONE!!
wife and kids wanna come back home.
