I dont think Obama can pull it off. I think Clinton has and has demosntrated that she has more balls.
I am disappointed that everyone, dems and repubs wanted change in the govt. and I think we'll end up with a 70+ year old senator and an ex-first lady senator.
Just a big dsiappointment all around for me. I mean, who the heck are we goign to argue about on s-b, no one really cares at this point!

McCain is a I guy I respect, but differ way, way too much on his views on the war, along with a bunch of social issues! He is a lot further right than most people think. The one thing I hope is that this shows how much of a (vocal majority) minority the true right religious nuts are!

It's good to keep McCain's Iraq viewpoint in context. Sure he was for it in the beginning, but a big reason he's been such a proponent of Bush's strategy is that he cut a deal with the Bush Admin to be the establishment choice...

That being said McCain was also quick to call for Rummys ouster and was very critical of Bush strategy early on.

McCain ticked me off with the Immigration bill. The whole country was up in arms over that on both sides of the spectrum. That alone makes me not want him in.
I actualy like Obama, he is the first politician in a long time that I would enjoy sitting down and talking with and not want to get sick. I differ way to much with him on social issues and I have not seen him be strong enogh against Hillary and demonstrate he can face serious international issues.
I voted in the primary for Romney, I agree on his stance on my "3 major issues" and I really think a business leader is the right skill set (vs. a lawyer or carrer politician) for leading this country. I am not that enthisuastic about him, but he was the only one I could vote for.

2 comments - I don't know if McCain wins if he will get Huckabee's supporters to support him. They may just stay home.

I'm not sure Obama's minority supporters will show up at the poles. He had a rally in Hartford Monday with 17,000 people and supposedly many minorities. Hartford only had 3,000 people vote in the primary.

It's probably a little of both. While there's still plenty of racism to go around, if Obama doesn't win it won't be because he's black.

I don't think most people who will actually vote care about those running being black or female...they're simply looking for an honest, thoughtful and strong leader.

McCain is pro-choice and supports gun control. As far as republicans go, McCain could be someone I could live with....he even expressed reservations about then-supreme court nominee Sammy "No minorities and women at princeton" Alito, opining he seems "too conservative". BUT, I will vote democratic. And about that Obama race, thing, I used to believe that a black man could never be president. This year is the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade, and here we are in 2008 with a truly viable black candidate. Its very promising.

I think the media agreed and that is why before superTuesday, McCain was crowned the front runner even tough Romney had more delgates and more % of the repub vote. He was also endoresed by lib newspapers....

It's all about trajectory at the right time. McCain was rising while Romney was holding even or even falling a bit flat. McCain was picking up the endorsements while Mitt was going empty.

Of course Rush Limbaugh would have you believe it was all media manipulation to get a GOP candidate who was a closet liberal

All things considered I think he's the best choice of the three to lead our Nation.

Obama and his wife just recently paid off their school loans. From what I've read, Michelle told Barack he needs to finish his political career fairly early so they can make some money. She does not want him chasing the presidency again.
Think about it - eight years ago, the Clintons were essentially broke - now Hillary is in a position to loan her campaign five million.
I don't think this applies to the "true believers," but for most, politics is about becoming rich and powerful - but with the emphasis on power. Becoming a national figure - whether you win or lose - is akin to hitting the lottery. We live in an age where, in the hands of a manipulative person, even a modicum of celebrity can translate into vast opportunity.
