299.95 after rebate, has a tide page, 1 gb micro -sd card, usb, 100 bucks download credit for additional maps. No WAAS tho. Is it needed?
Love the fact it's not just tied to the boat.
Any other people use handhelds in the boat?
Which ones?

It made for waterway navigation, not streets.
So it has all the navigation aids, bouys, etc....
iFinder Atlantis This package is shipped with the iFinder Atlantis, pre-loaded MMC card (featuring U.S. coastal and Great Lakes detail with navigational aids, obstructions and wrecks), white faceplate and the package accessories listed below.
I would say WAAS is a must, since the accuracy is there, why not take advantage of it.
I use it as a backup to my Raymarine color unit.
But to compare I have used it side by side at sea and its very good.
Not a color screen, but its the ocean anyway.

I just bought a Garmin 400c and it is UNREAL. It is pre-loaded for the entire USA blue charts and the easiest thing i have ever used. Its waterproof up to 1 meter and just awsome. It was a little pricy at 650 after taxes but perfect for my uses out here sailing and screwing around.
When i talked to the person at west marine, there is really nothing else out there that compares. I love this thing.

anyone know if there is a handheld that will work for streets(driving), hunting (woods), and on the water(boating)? It would have to be marine grade to stand up to the elements. I want one that does it all..

I bought the Lowrance XOG this winter. It is preloaded with street maps and is primarliy for use in the car to get you to where your going. However it also accepts disks for off road and nautical trails. I have it loaded with the NauticPath electronic charts for the entire US coast. I have used it from Maine to Florida and the charts have all been accurate. The price was $250 for the unit and <$100 for the nautical charts. The positives are that it goes from car to boat without shutting it off. Battery lasts about 2 hours, so on the trip you need to plug it in. Color touch screen. Negatives while on the boat, small 3.5" screen, tough/impossible to see in direct sunlight (or through polarized sunglasses) and it is only splash proof not water proof. All in all I am happy with the new toy and feel I have got my money's worth.

I have a garmin too.gpsmap 76 I love it the map is very acurate about 10 -15 ft .from a rock I tracked onit , I was impressed..Inever leave the dock with out it .

If you mean Bluecharts, I have them installed on mine. I use it as a backup to my Garmin 182c and to bring my numbers with me on friend's boats. |

We went with the Garmin 76cx...$100 off the regular price of $359 at Boaters World...also bought the BlueChart CD from West Marine. We went with the big stores as the price difference beween the web sites when you include shipping was not enough to justify the web deal. Not to mention having the store up the street and available if we have an issue is worth something to me.
I played with the Blue Chart and mapping software and damn I like it now that I have it figured out...so far.
