At least he can still operate a boat.

You or I would be slapped with the maximum fine and at least the minimum sentence.

This is pathetic.

I have always said the only way to committ murder is to run them down. Do a year at the most and more than likely only get supervised probation.

Actually, he can't. He can't even board a boat for the next 3 years. There was a better write-up in today's New Bedford paper.

The charge he faced is a misdemeanor. If he was drunk, it would have been a felony which carried mandatory jail, or even state prison, time, but he was sober. The Bristol County DA, Sam Sutter, was personally present in the courtroom yesterday when this happened, and was in agreement with the plea and sentence--and most importantly, so was the deceased's family.

There was no mention of him not being able to board a boat for 3 years in the article posted above. People are commenting on the information (and lack of information) presented in that article.

But, being condescending has never been in short supply from you before, so carry on.

Not that it brings anyone back, but the Civil Case will probably be massive since there was a Guilty finding. Not that money matters, but it will probably hurt, a bit.

Sure was an awful, awful case though. Just sailing around then . . .

When it happened it seemed, at least on the enforcement end, that things moved very slowly with respect to letting the public know the facts. It had the smell of a mistake by somebody with some money, as opposed to the usual poor-person they nail to the floorboards.
