Boston Harbor Macs

I've been amazed at how long the macs have stuck around in Boston Harbor. There were still plenty out there on Tuesday when I was out. I've only been live lining for a few years now. It's not common for them to be hanging around the harbor this long is it? Any ideas why they stuck around? Water temp was about 60 at the surface Tuesday in the outer harbor.

Until something shows up that eats them, they have no reason to move.
When the predators do show, they will beat a path for deeper waters.

I was off the Gurnet Thursday morning. No macs and the dogfish have moved in. I know, I saw him just before he made off with my sabiki rig!

That's a bummer! I'll be out there Sunday looking for macs. Hopefully there are still some around.

I went out Sunday and caught plenty of macs so they are still around the haba. Also pulled up a few small herring looking fish on my sabiki. Are those sea herring?

Nko's right about a couple of years ago, and I was out Saturday and picked up some Macs pretty quick, the only problem was getting Stripers.

I'm still finding them but not the big ones and it's been harder. Nothing over 32" Sunday although we had a bigger one on the line that got off in the rocks.

Loaded up on macs (80% were tinkers) today just outside the harbor. After boating a 36" striper the next thing to take the live lined macs was a pair of 30+" blues!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

I had a lot more trouble on Friday getting macs in the haba. Morning bite was okay but in the afternoon I had to settle for harbor pollack. Picked up some bass but nothing too big.
