WTB Beginner surf combo
Looking for a surf combo for my GF. Something in the realm of a 9' rod, paired to a reliable reel. Not trying to break the bank on it. Anyone have an old setup laying around?

Sorry, thanks for the
Yeah, spinning. I don't think she's into the learning curve associated with birds nests!

I have a 9ft Tia dolphin, it's in decent shape. 2 pieces, it's rated 2 to 4 or something but throws all the light stuff to 3oz ss poppers. $30 bucks?
Also have a daiwa Capricorn reel, and a daiwa regal , both are 2500 or 3500 models, not sure as I never use em. I'll CHeck when I get in today.

I think I have a brand new in the box ABU Spinner. Its medium sized which would be perfect for a beginner and its new which takes away any mental block about not catching cause she has "old used equipment" . $50 you pick up or meet me near Cumberland or Providence , RI. If interested let me know and I'll dig it out. Its a surplus new reel from when I switched to conventionals.
Sorry , I looked all over for it but can't find it. If I do find it soon I'll repost

Thanks for the replies, guys. Chris, that rod sounds perfect. How old is the braid on the Daiwa?
SH, If you find the reel, let me know. Definitely interested.
Chris, I'll try to make my way down to RI on memorial day weekend... I can pick up the rod (and maybe a reel) then... We can either do SWE, or somewhere near PVD, whatever's most convenient for you.
Thanks!

I'll post some pics today. The braid is brand new, I'll check to see what it is.

Hey Chris,
Can you send me the tracking number? I paid on the 27th and nothing has arrived. You also haven't replied to the PMs I sent on the 11th, 13th, and 15th.
