Take an hour out of your weekend and go see that parade and ceremony, and when you see that older, neatly dressed vet quietly sitting in at a small table in front of some supermarket with his donation can and handful of poppies, stop and chat for a sec and reach a little deeper in your wallet. You'll feel good about it.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

great pictures John.
Amen to all the sentiments above. Just a TV fyi, tune in to National Geographic channel Monday night to see a fishing related tribute to wounded veterans. This fall will be the fifth annual American Heroes Fishing Challenge, which brings recently wounded veterans to Martha's Vineyard to fish with some well known charter captains, and last year it was documented for this show. Narrated by Lenny Clarke. The event is really about healing through the joy fishing we all share, but at least one of the participants sounds hard-core. I've used his quote as my signature.
