I was fishing a few weeks ago on a lake here in TX. At dusk I saw a huge animal swimming to shore, it came ashore and it was a beaver. I never realized how freaking big they are. thing must have weighed 60-70 lbs

I've had regular encounters with them fishing the CTR in the spring. I've never had one get really aggressive with me but they do scare the hell out of you when they tail slap a few feet behind you. Knowing they are around is usually enough to get me to move to a new spot, they are certainly big enough that i wouldn't want to mess with one. |

Man, their tail slaps can scare the crap out of you. I was hiking at night with the dog way out in the woods, and it sounded like some one was throwin boulders in the water - and it kept getting closer.
Creeped me out.
But, this idiot goes to grab one and take a picture.
They can bite ya know, just ask a tree.

There's got to be a massive one at one of my favorite sweet water spots.....went there a few weeks ago and there were 1/2 dozen trees down.......and these trees had to be 12-16 inches in diameter......had to be one big ass beaver that took those trees down.

There is a resident beaver at the spot I frequent. Comes up right along shore in front of on its way up river. My wife is an emergency vet and has seen some nasty results of dog vs beaver. Never works well out for the dog.

Protect your wood, they have been known to fall many a tall tree in preparation of building a lodge.

Zimmy I know the one you speak of she was swimming all around me one morning and coming close . I got off the small jetty I was standing on and she swam around it and went up river.
