I never had any problems with Breakaway, but the knotted area can be slipped around sometimes or rarely for me, but other than that, I am fine with it. Dennis, have you ever tried gemini link clips? I used them a lot, but stopped recently because I couldn't fit some of the lures that have a bigger and thicker eye to clip onto and changing lures such as jigs

I won't use the TA clips after seeing what happens to them on a fly rod. I tried using them on a 6" haywired section of wire to use as a bite leader for boofish... The clips would be junk within a half hour, all mangled and deformed... just from the force of casting.
I stick with the breakaways now, no complaints.

JMfoolishO - most SST metals fatigue in a shorter life than knuckleheaded iron-rich rust Luvin' steels like spring steel - change your terminal tackle and change it often - cheap insurance, eh?

Change is what happens when the pain of holding on becomes greater than the fear of letting go.

I have to say that I have probably caught over a thousand bass in the canal on jigs, since using both Breakaway and TA clips, and never lost a single one due to clip failure. I don't know anywhere else you can fish where you have to put as much pressure on a good fish as you do in the Canal. 50# braid, 50# mono leader, and an All Star 1209. If those things were inherently weak, I think I would have had at least one open up on me.
Tie one on upside down, and a jig can slide off it merely by lifting a fish out of the water by the leader. Happened to me once, but the fish landed on the rocks. I caught the slip-up right away. I've never managed to tie one on upside down since.
