Eel Alternative

Hypothetical question for surfcasters:
If you have been getting bass on eels, but you run out while fishing – do you go for an eel-imitating plug like, say, an olive Habs or Mambo or eel-like soft plastic – or do you re-evaluate and go for something totally different as eels are almost never the predominate bait?
Thanks - Joe

Depending on the conditions, probabaly go to a black needle and use a teaser or to a fat surface swimmer... But I rarely run out of eels (which is good and bad when I think about it)

I've had great success the past couple seasons swimming my 8 inch grub, the tail action is great, putting out the vibrations you need fishing depths or darkness. If you want something that's a no brainer, it's perfect and all you need do is vary the jig head size/hook for various depths, times of year etc.

Question

If the bluefish aren't around, then a pre-rigged rubber eel is the ersatz slimy long squirmy thing of last resort.

If it was a bright night Id use a yellow habs needle if it was dark Id use a black habs needle . But I may throw an olive white habs needle , which I usually have with me .
