Vega Duplicator Setup
So, I think this might be along the lines of how it's supposed to be set up, but I'm not sure. I got this 2nd hand, no manual, so I'm kinda flying in the dark a little.Any suggestions would be helpful. Poor Ross is always having to translate tool speak for me, so feel free to use terms like "the part that spins the wood" or "the other end that holds the wood"...lol

as long as you have your cutter tip and the drive and step center tips are lined up you should do ok. one caution though-the cutter set screw has a tendancy to vibrate loose so check it frequently.also don't force your cutting by taking too much of a bite ie 1/2 inch cuts an so on. especially with harder woods.lol and don't get carried away with using plyers to tighten the finger screws.
you run into problems let me know. i'm not that far north of you an we can get together. ron

That is enough for you to get going, no doubt. You have just added a "bed" to your lathe. Lose the spring as mentioned above, oil the chain and keep an eye on the tension and have at it. You should have two thumb screws and two metal, holders that fit into the groove on the front of the black horizontal surface.
As for improvements, what it best attaches to is a flat cast surface with a slot running left to right. A bed extension would be too long and keep your tailstock too far out. I would consider formica top with a T-slot cut in it centered over the tube.

Most important...wear a full face shield and a respirator/dust mask. If a piece of wood comes off and hits you smack in the goobers....you will be better for having had the shield on!  |

aw come on larry where's the sence of adventure lol only hurts for a bit and who needs 2 eyes to do things. listen to larry he's dead on right an even with a sheid your gonna get hit from time to time. oh by the way watch out for cracks in the wood you use.

Check the end grain on your stock as you chuck it...Ron is right....look for cracks!
