				lampreys on macks ?

I was jigging up macks today and 1 of the macks came in the boat with a lamprey attached to it . I have fished for many years caught countless macks never saw a lamprey before I thought they were only fresh water. talked to a buddy of mine he was fishing a couple miles away and he got 1 also . it was about 6-7 inches long , it came off the mack when the fish hit the deck and I had to yank it off the deck as it clamped its self to the deck , anyone else seen them before in salt water .

Big problem in the great lakes. We charter Ontario every year and almost every fish has a lamprey or two or three on it. Plus several scars from where there was one at some time. They're gross. Some over 14" long and fat.

That is funny! I had the exact same thing happen two weeks ago off the Gurnet! 8" Lamprey fell off the mackerel as soon as it was out of the water and landed on the deck. Appeared to have fallen out of the gill area. Clamped onto the deck when I touched it and let go again when I did! Had to slide up the transom to get it to let go. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come!
