Question for ya's ?

I seen a guy surf casting with what looked like a fly reel but it was like 10" diameter on a rod that wasn't a fly rod it had a normal butt like a spinning rod would have .
The reel ran parallel to the rod then he turn it to be 90* to the rod to cast , then turned it back to parallel to retrieve.
I asked a few other people what kind of reel it was & nobody else had seen one before , any idea as to what it was ?

Back when I was fishing the Back beaches I ran into a guy using one of those reels and he could out cast everyone.

No boat, back in the suds.

I just saw him at the Point as well. Another fisherman and I were watching from a distance wondering exactly what he was using that looked like a big fly reel.

I saw him gearing up at the Pt yesterday too, I didn't stick around to see it in action.

I have heard they cast a county mile but have a 1:1 retrieve ratio.

1:1 retrieve ratio SOUNDS PERFECT FOR SLOW PLUGS OR LIVE EELS

I LOVE it when MY WIFE lets me fish
