				Fishing Cape Ann

There was a blue fish blitz early this morning at the northern end of the Annisquam River in Ipswitch Bay. About noon time the flat grounds and surounding area came alive with a few groups of birds working and producing a few blues.the stripers didn't seem to be biting I tried a few places and didn't catch one, that does not mean that no one else didn't catch.
Mackerel haven't shown up as in past years. Maybe them mid water trawlers did a number on them this past winter down off of block island.

Went out to Tillies today and ended up with some haddock. Cod and a very large pollack. bit rough so not the most comfortable trip. Anyway on the way back in we saw Tuna breaking the surface SE of thatches. Also saw a Mola Mola out further and a whale spout......Nice day to be on the water!!

				 | Glad to hear you had a nice day catching some cod and haddock.
you didn't miss much inshore. Talked to my buddy and he was out six hours and had one striper 29" That's a long day.
Today was a nice day, looked towards the break water and it was flat calm. Had to work my real job today. |

				 | Where should I go to find Cod? Got shut out yesterday, first time this year. Tried over by Thatchers, lots of birds, no action. One of my fishing buds caught a few 25 lb blues off of halibut point on thursday. So he says, but he's pretty reliable.

				 | You could try Saturday Nite Ledge, Tillies is an excellent place for cod & haddock. Try places on Jefferies where the water is 150' - 250' deep |

				 | The seagulls were working all day today From Thatchers to Beverly. Also Gloucester Habor was alive. Blue fish are everywhere. Some nice size stripers are being taken. |

				 | Just came back from taking a ride around the back shore [bracies cove- good habor beach] no birds working at the moment, but the day is young. Fishing has been excellent this past week,Blues, Stripers and even sightings of some tuna.
Yesterday brought heavy seas and also made it hard fishing from shore. Seen one fool in a center console go almost 90 degrees on a wave and the boat came out of the water on a couple of other waves before slowing down. |

Was tough out there today. We started to venture out for cod but quickly changed our mind. We were in some 4-5's not far off shore so called it. Came back in and there were massive schools of baitfish and birds but that was it. Nothing underneath the bait. Ended up t#^^^^^&g in Folly for lunch then headed in. Still a very sweet day on the water.

Also took a ride out to see the seals.

				 | Yes it was a little rough. Small craft warnings were up today. Always considered my boat to be a dry boat but it difinitly wasn't today.Fished over by Normans Woe and Hammond Castle. Caught a half dozen small stripers on the fly rod 18"-24".
Birds were working near the rocks. Commorants were working under and herring gulls on top. When that happens there genrally isn't any fish.

				 | There really isn't any cod fishing from shore. If you caught one it would just be luck. There is toutog fishing from shore. Most rocky shore lines hold them. They are a good tasting fish. Lanes Cove Break water is a good place to catch em using sea worms. As the water turns cold they migrate to deeper water.

				 | natoroYou will just be wasting your time fishing from shore for cod.
Your chances around here are one in a million.
Your best bet around here would be Eastern Point Breakwater in November on a good day
You would still be very fortune to catch cod.

There is nothing around here to attract em
