The process is moving fast. It will be nice to have hi-speed internet on the island never mind lower electricity costs. I am skeptical on the latter.

Anyone traveling along Pt. Judith Rd. in Narragansett has probably noticed engineers/surveyors marking the path the transmission lines will follow. North end of Scarborough, up Burnside (I think), and along Pt Judith Rd. A lot of work to do at the actual wind farm site first.

About time some offshore wind got built in America. People have been twiddling around with this for years, and finally someone's getting poles in the water. And no, they won't bother the fish; I looked into the acoustics of this several years ago with the company that did the permitting, and the underwater sound is negligible. A big step forward for the U.S. wind industry.

now they have a much improved design
instead of the "windmill" configuration
using straight up tubes that revolve vertically.
no birds would be harmed in the process.

Except for the old one rotting away off of Hawaii, look into it. As soon as the company realizes they don't make money off of it and it costs to much to operate and upkeep they just fold and leave the stuff there to rot. Hope this doesn't happen off of BI. Wind and solar energy is the way of the future I just hope that the powers that be have figured out a way to make it cost effective and really make it work.

Luckily, the model they are following for this project is the farms in the North Sea as opposed to the Hawaii boondoggle....

The barge is en route with the first foundation piles...
