I hope so but it looks like a verteran staff is defecting So we'll need to call in numbers!
Rise ye fellow S-B'ers to the call of arms. We must defend our title as Surf Club Mastahs one week from now! We need legions of S-B surf pukes to come to Lil Rhody and defeat the hordes arrayed against us!

well, boys and girls, we are 4 days away from the start of the mda tournament. are you ready to hold onto your title???
a little history about the mda or muscular dystrophy tournament: it was started back in 1992 by the pioneer valley fishing club to have a some local clubs get together for some braggings rights thru the next year and have some good times. a lot has changed since then. it's grown quite well recently with as many as 15 clubs participating in the last year or so. the rivalries are strong, sometimes heated, but all in good fun. but, thru it all, the most important thing to remember is that all the proceeds of this tournament go towards the muscular dystrophy association. last year over $1000 was raised for this charity. feel free to donate on your own towards this charity as there should be information at the shop.
how to participate: well, if you belong to a fishing club chances are you are signed up. no individuals need to signup. clubs sign up on for their members.
registering fish: the weekapaug bait and tackle shop ( http://www.weekapaugbaitandtackle.com ) is the official weigh station and tournament headquarters. all fish need to be weighed there as they have the tournament books for your club. you catch a fish, weigh it there, and it goes on your clubs books. the shop should have extended hours as well.
times: the tournament starts this friday the 17th at 6pm and runs until sunday the 19th ending at 9am w/ the final weigh in at the weekapaug bait shop. following that, there is a breakfast and awards ceremony at the andrea hotel just down the street.
fishing areas: narragansett to napatree point only. surf only.
trophies: there is a continuing plaque that is passed on each year w/ the winning clubs name followed by the year won, which is kept for one year. to win the plaque, the total weight of the 3 largest bass and 3 largest bluefish for a club is tallied. the club w/ the most pounds wins. there is a prize for the largest bass and largest bluefish as well. plus, a raffle.
are you ready? are YOU readddyyyyy??? well, for the hundreds in the suds? and the millions lurging on the site. ladies and gentleman, let's get ready to rummmbbllleee!!!!!

As usuall, Seawolf burried the nail (even though he is likely fishing for one of a couple clubs/teams )
Yes, this is a South County Surf Club Tournament, called the Surf Club Challenge , but it is better known as the MDA Tournament with proceeds goig to Muscular Distrophy.
This is a bit more informal than our S-B 4 Leg Tourney. But like Seawolf said, the biggest 3 Bass & Blues are the winner. Lat year we had Habs, Krispy, and Tattoo fishing for us and they eessentially won the Tourney for S-B. I'm afraid they have formed their own team this year so we need all the help from youze guys we can get! Whether you can fish one night or two - lemme know
I'll come up with some kind of prize for the Top Dawgs fishing for Team S-B in this Tourney!!!

I actually was planning to try napatree this weekend (Friday night) with my pops. If we catch anything big, I'd be most honored to represent S-B.

I'm in I can Fish butt crack of dawn Saturday to mid day. And whatever is left of Sunday, Butt crack of dawn to tourney end.
Friday night is a mebbe but I'd rather get a few winks and be out 1.5-2 hours before first light on Sat I dont get in til 11pm or so on Fri.
We meeting or just doing our own thing and weighing up?
Eben I'll bring the slimey heathens and we grab the yaks
If you use a yak to get out somewhere but you fish ontop of a rock structure, what is that considered?
It will be my first Saturday off in 3 yrs or so without being on vacation or taking time off. Imma fish myself crazy.
