Albie/Bonito rods

What rods are you guys using from shore? I have a cheapish 8.5' steelhead rod that i used last year. Nice action but the reel seat and guide layout are junk. Reel seat is wobbly and a little too small for my penn 4500, the guides make my braid get tangled way too frequently on the retrieve. I would think something in the 8'-8.5' range would be ideal but there aren't a whole lot of rods in that size available.

Everything is better on the rocks.

Rob,

I have an 8.5 Lami steelhead rod(XH) that i made last year for albies. I have it with split cork grips and single foot alconite k-frames. Works very well. I just bought a bunch of new blanks to try so I may be willing to let this go if you want for $125.

9 foot Tica TC3 M/ fast action. It got a good workout this morning. I match it with a VS150 and it's balanced right for me and I like to be able get distance as I often need to do. 30lb braid 20 leader. Throws 1/2 oz stuff fine.

I use an 8" Shimano Teramar SE from the boat, but it's worked well from shore, too. An 8' Mojo works. And for a higher price GLoomis makes some fine rods.
