HOLY CRAP, what fun I had

well Saturday was good. Took Sunday off cuz of the rain. Monday blew, but TUESDAY, oh boy I checked out my first spot in North Hampton, rubbish. Drove a little south, parked, and walk all the way around the bend ( the one in the old Subaru commercial lol), and kept going towards the birds, and HOLY #^&#^&#^&#^&. I walked right into the biggest Bass Blitz I have ever witnessed. I thought Stripers shamu'ing on the surface in the Hampton marsh was fun, but nothing compared to this onslaught of Bass. The water was CHURNING with Stripers. It was like a Bass blanket had been thrown right over my spot. I didnt know whether to #^&#^&#^&#^& or piss. I threw out my Skitter Pop, and BOOM. Immediate bass, 20". Every cast BANG, SLAM, CRASH. I was in HEAVEN. I wouldve caught about 25 of em, maybe more, but I got a loop-diddy-loop after about 8 fish, and had to fix the mess. Back to the action, got about 7 more. I was hoping and praying for the BehemothBass, when all of a sudden it felt like a Tugboat was trying to take me out lol. I thought I had finally snagged myself a nice keeper, and as he got closer I could see that I he had gotten hung up on his side, and the resistance when reeling him in is what made him feel HEAVY. I felt bad, and de-hooked him best I could and got him on his way, but thats how THICK the action was. I was literally casting out right on top of these Bass, and they were fighting and thrashing for the Skitter Pop. I was truly, for about 30 minutes, in Bass Heaven. Then it just died off as they went back out. All the fish seemed to be right about the same size, 18 to 20", with the biggest being 22". Not much for size, but the sheer volume was so much fun. Like fishing in the hot tub, literally. I was standing on the rock, surrounded by The Ones vith Stripes, and the little silvery baitfish were just washing up around my feet. Everywhere lol. This all happend at about 2pm I think. It was right between tides I believe, right towards the end of high tide. If its not too pissy out tomorrow, I may go down and see if the birds are there again, and try to re-create the fun.

After that, I headed back North again. Got a small Bass on 4" pearl wildeye, then threw out the Skitter Pop again, only to snag a rock, and lose ANOTHER one. Thats 2 SP's in 2 days. GODDAMN IT lol. Gotta go get another one. Have to go to the Portsmouth wal-nuts this time, cuz I bought out all the ones at the Seabrook one lol.

As I was checking to see if I could retrieve that lost lure, I met another Bass man, I think his name was Tom, and as we were chatting, to my right is another blitz. He raced over and ended up snagging 3 of em real fast, but I was busy getting my crappy set-up back together and couldnt get down the beach fast enough. This Blitz didnt last as long as the other one though.

Ordered a new okuma reel and some fireline, hopefully get to use the stuff before it dies down. Theres TONS of baitfish around Hampton, so hopefully that wont be my last Blitz for the year

nice, thats what its all about. if your catchin just small you might want to try tossing a danny out there, its a good way to pick out the bigger fish.

live to fish. fish to live. rod tips high.
