This morning I was trying to add water to my pond to keep it running. Wet bare hands...took about 20 seconds before the pain was searing.

Last time it was this cold was January 1957. I hope my mother stayed in that day, she had me May of that year. Crazy cold - I hope everyone was OK with pipes, heaters, etc.

We feed the birds and have a heated bird bath and I believe we have every bird in south Plymouth in our yard right now. At the end of the day yesterday there were 30+ robins that all showed up at once and it was total mayhem around the bird bath to get a perch and a quick drink. I counted 25 cardinals on the feeders and ground at one point and far too many sparrows to count. I was even surprised to see a northern flicker at the bath early one morning, which I rarely see this far from the woods.

It was -7 in conn along the coast yesterday. Went out to get flowers for the wife, warmed the car up extra long while I picked up some fallen branches. 1st few turns with the car I got a warning to stop the car bc of no oil. Pulled over and checked the oil, had plenty but did see what almost looked like ice crystals on the stick. Warmed it up a little more and it ran fine. Took a walk on the beach Sat. and usually would see about 20 people. There were 2 groups of 2. When I walked through the marina, people looked at me like I was nutz.
Hope no one had any damage.
