A not so merry xmass
Some holiday's are ones you will never forget, others are ones you hope to never live through again, I've experienced both personally. My significant other had quite the morning. First she learned her 90 year old mother was escorted back inside her home by police early in the morning, which was l#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g as bare feet and a bathrobe are going to keep you warm long. Dementia has escalated in a major way in just the past few weeks and now she needs to place her to insure her safety.
The next call from her sister was to pass on the bad news she was given 4 months to live after battling cancer for a decade, needless to say Peg isn't having a good day and likely this will not be a Merry Xmass this year. Hug those you love and as my buddy Clammer is so fond of saying, be grateful for what you have.

my thoughts are with Peg, you and her family

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Basically dealing with the same issues on my end. Been a weird, tough year for a lot of people. Thank God for my niece being born (even she gave us a scare). Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Wishing you peace. Dementia is complicated, frustrating, and heartbreaking. Cancer is a #^&#^&#^&#^&ing bitch.

Sorry to hear this Bob. We are also dealing with the downward spiral of dementia. I am health care proxy for my 92 yo mother who has been in a locked dementia unit for two years. Three meetings with staff and medical this past weeks as she is now more agitated and a safety risk to herself and staff. Tough decisions as to medication.... She is in a good place (physically), but she would not have been able to get in there unless she was previously in their independent living.
As for your SIL, please tell her to live every day, today. Screw the end game calendar the docs gave her. I have three friends living more than a year after the time the docs gave them.....
This does all lead to how we view how we should want to live out our days. I told the better half today that should I be diagnosed with dementia, there is no way I would want to let it progress as long as we have let it go with my mother. And I want to have a plan understood as to how, and when I would want to end it, legally, without incriminating her, if I need assistance in doing so...... Tough subjects indeed.
Wishing you well, and looking forward to living life tomorrow to the best of our abilities.

We picked up her mother that same day and brought her back to Plymouth, but after a rough night, we brought her to the hospital yesterday. Lot's out of wack chemically and then they found a tumor in her throat, which is sadly ironic in that her sister is dying from esophageal cancer. Peg's mom never smoked or drank. Looks like a couple days of evaluation and then some hard decisions.
I watched my mother die from two different cancers and my father from Alzheimer's; then his brother from the same thing. My father's wasn't as devastating a case as his brothers, as he picked it up late after already dealing with a quad bypass. I watched my Aunt for 5 years talk to her husband who had to be craned out of bed, fed like an infant, while he rarely opened his eyes and he was never able to say a word. Peg has already promised me, that if I go the same route it's off to VT to change residences, so I can go with some semblance of dignity.
