Triple E and Lyme...

OK...not going to lie...Lyme is scary but an acceptable risk so to speak but this EEE stuff has me more nervous. What is your go to preventative measures? Full on Deet?

Simplify.......

I look at it this way, this stuff has been around a long time,IMHO, people never knew about it and ignorance was bliss, Lyme scares me more than EEE, maybe because I have 2 friends that have had their life severely changed bye the disease, one is an avid hunter and fisherman, the other is a church singer and gospel song recording artist that rarely steps on grass, both have life changing illnesses from those blood s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g little beasts(ticks) I spend a lot of time out of doors, I never liked ticks, and always have done as much as humanly possible to repel them... mosquitos, I've never saw as much more than an annoyance... I'm just a little more aware these days and have spray with as much DEET as possible near by, I've always used a device called a thermo cell while hunting and fresh water fishing from shore, I take it with me in the garden and anytime I don't want to lather bug spray on (or if the wind is blowing hard enough to negate the effects of the device)..
Much like the terrorist prevention/awareness, I refuse to let it ( biting bugs) effect my life, I wont live in a bubble...I guess I'll just take a few more precautions and what will happen is going to happen... heck, I've had mosquitos show up in my office.. that little bugger could be the one to do me in.. and there aint noting I can do about that.

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Mostly just keeping bare skin covered with long sleeves and pants, along with always having a can of insect spray with deet.

Stopped my habit of taking naps outside on my sleeping cot.

I have a backpack fogger for the home which works. Otherwise, I am not lathering up with insecticide just to avoid a bug bite.

Lathering up with deet: I use cutter at the house but when I fish I have the juice for juice bottles in the surf bag. When black flies start killing people the. I will make a real change in my behavior.

Ive been pretty fortunate, as a hunter and fisherman for as long as I have been. Knock on wood Ive never had a tick bite and rarely do mosquitoes bite me. I do use repellent more now than I ever have.

W just had a confirmation of west nile in Somerset! Its getting scary out there.
