Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

Just getting back online after a hard drive failure and I see things have gotten interesting, figures I'd miss out on the action. I did happen to catch your remark that all boat fishing is for lazy bums. I'll have to take you for a ride some day, but you probably don't have any sea legs because you've been walking on the beach far too long. I'd agree with your comment for some I see out there anchored up, throwing their chucks, sitting in their easy chairs, sipping their Bud's while waiting for something to run with their bait. I'd put my balls up against yours anyday of the week, because my fishing style is far from what youv'e obviously have pictured in your mind. Take last Saturday morning, pulling out of the harbor in my 17 foot aluminum at 4:30, pitch black and 4-5 footers and a good NE blow. I can't even see the bow, let along the lobster pots I should try to avoid and with a constand salt water spray soaking my glasses, couldn't see them if I wanted to. Didn't matter thou because I had an appointment 5 miles north with some stripers and nothing was going to keep me from getting there. My GPS was the only thing guiding me, throttle was up to 3/4, speed around 20 and I'm taking the pounding, while holding trying to avoid getting thrown overboard. I've been out in worse, living on the edge of safety all in my favorite pursuit.

As to other fishing, well if you think Striper Fishing is the only fishing, then I hope you enjoy your TV when the striper season winds down. Personally, I consider myself a "complete" fisherman, capable of catching trophy specimens of all species of gamefish. I'll fish until the ice forms keeping me from launching my boat and I've caught some nice largemouth, smallmouth, pickera and salmon, all while on the brink of freezing to death. Lazy fisherman, that's not me buddy.

I better cut this short, by the sounds of things you probably have some house chores to get to and don't have time for a lengthy post. Be safe now out on that beach next time you go. I hear the beach is a dangerous place after dark, lol. Try not to let any sand get in your boots, I hear that can really be a bummer. Don't wade out too far now, you might get some water in your boats and be in mortal danger.

I've got to go now, need to order a new spray guard for my center console, broke one side off last Saturday when I got slammed into it hard on a rougue wave I couldn't see. Not to worry though, I had my foul weather gear on and didn't get my dress wet, lol.

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

I would be willing to bet I have more shore bass in one season than you have caught over the last five years!!! Boats are cheating!! Its like hiring a prostitute! way to easy.On the shore you need to use your most basic skills to find fish! No fish finders only instinc!
This year I have over 600 bass from shore! whats your "boat" tally??????

Be sure not to get your dress wet!

What you did in that noreast blow is not impresive,It is however stupid! Should have stayed at the dock.Suicide fishing isnt a sport. You probably dont have to many people who want to go with you, because its obvious you have no clue when to stay tied to a dock.Safety wise, its very stupid.lololololololol

As for frezzing? Well,I fish from april through november,No time to fish for any of the other trash fish. You must go for cod,the laziest fishing there is..new name for you.."Clamdunker"

see you for round two!!!

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

I knew that tweak would get your attention. I'm a weekend warrior and running a business and family prevents me from getting out more than one day a week. Even so, since I started the season back around the first of June, I'd have to say my total is up around 550 fish. That's assuming a 35 fish/day average over those weeks, but I've had several 50+ fish days, so that total is pretty close. That's my Saturdays, plus a few other mornings I sneaked out. I really don't measure every fish, but I usually average anywhere from 1-4 keepers a trip, so keeper total might be around 25. In that keeper total are a couple 30 lber's, a few over 20 and most of the others in the upper teens. Not bad for a weekend warrior, but I guess I'm cheating so it's not the same right?

As for safety, I've had this boat since 1987 and know exactly what it's limits are and my own for that matter. I'm not stupid and don't venture out if conditions are not within my limits. I've been working this coast in one type of boat or the other since I was a teenager and can read conditions, waves, sets, weather and everything else required to be a safe boater as well as you can probably read the surf. That doesn't mean I won't push it to the limit, that takes some nerve and some balls, but again it's a matter of knowing what your doing in the first place.

Ok, let's take this to the next level of tweak, since we are both having some fun with this. Out of your total number of fish, how many were caught on live bait (eels would be my guess, lol), cut bait or some version thereof? I would hazard a guess a pretty high percentage of fish. Out of my total, I would have to say over 95% came on my hand poured plastic jerkbaits and the rest on live eels. If you agree that stripers, like most gamefish, will respond easier to live bait, than my total might be a little tougher to get considering they came on artificials.

Let the fun continue, your turn to take a shot, lol.

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

Hey "#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. I get a kick out of how someone can seem so knowlegable in there own tiny little world of fishing as long as it is in shore, from a beach, using eels, from april to november, to bad there isn't a world record category for that . let see how easy it is landing a 604 lb blue fin tuna by a hand line. We used a hand line because since I have a boat and I am "rich" I spent my money that week on my new house in aspen. Try tugging on a rope with 400 lb mono that was braided into it for a while and I think your tune might change. As for your beach conquest of the 50 lb striper that would have been a great live bait to catch the 350 lb tiger shark the I got off the beach in Bermuda. I must have ran ten miles up and down the grape bay beach to land, tag and release that fish but if I knew that wasn't fishing because it wasn't a striped bass I would have stayed home and watched TV. How about a 880 lb blue marlin on an 80 wide that took about 4 hours + to land and release ( oh did i mention that fish was tagged also). that's not fishing either right. my point is that everyone has bragging rights and for you to cut down people for the species and style they fish is neandertholic. Hey "Got stripers" maybe we can go fishing sometime to target a state record sculpin or something. oh sorry thats not fishing either.

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

Mr+Kav, don't put me in the same BOAT (LOL) with the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, I consider a good day of crappie fishing in November a fun time. I like all kinds of fishing and try to be accomplished in my pursuit of many species. I certainly am not of the opinion that striper fishing is the only fishing, that is such a one dimensional mind set, I can't believe #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& even believes it. I guess if he won a tuna charter, he would have to give it away since it didn't involve stripers, lol.

I had a taste of some blacktip shark fishing and bone fishing down in Marathon Key this past February, man was that fun.......but no stripers so I guess I shouldn't have gone......not really fishing, lol. Funny because I found 150 lb blacktip sharks jumping like giant smallmouth bass (yeah #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&....love chasing smallies) to be just unreal.

Tight lines and better keep those other fish stories quite, lol.

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

I didn't mean to put you and the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& in the same boat, after all that wouldn't be a fair contest. All the fish in the ocean wouldn't have a chance with a pro like the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& huvoring over them. That sounds like a great time you had in the keys, I have a little experience fishing out of the keys but mostly I was fishing in the wahoo tournements they have down there so the bone fishing wasn't an option. I did however catch a huge bonefish about 5 months ago. I was on vacation in Bermuda and we were fishing for reef fish ( red snappers, gray dogs, yellow tails, porgies, baracuda's etc) in about 60 ft of water. We were using extremely light tackle because that is all we had on the boat when a bone fish almost pulled the rod out of my hand. I didn't realize that you could catch them in that deep of water but my friends down there tell me that it isn't rare at all to catch the larger ones that deep. They are a great fish to catch. I have a friend coming up from bermuda this weekend and I am going to take him night time eel slinging for stripers. He has never seen a striper before so this should be fun. Hey #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& any suggestions on where to go? lol

RE:Boat fisherman WITH BIG BALLS to an #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& with SMALL BALLS

I can pee further than all of you! While all you girls (no offense to Fisherwoman, Jenn, Squidmamma, Wendy, and any other females on the site- I hate to lump all these hardcore, tough guys in with your gender) were sippin' beers, chunkin' mackerel, tossin' clams, or however you fish for those sissy stripers, I was proving my manhood rafting world class whitewater up on the Penobscot (sp?) River in the rugged Maine wilderness. Running class 5 rapids in a glorified inflatable canoe is way cooler and tougher than any brand of fishing you do. Hooooorahhhh!

I never thought at 30, I'd be saying I'm too old for this sh... stuff. But I can honestly say that all that extreme cliff diving, whitewater rafting, etc. that I enjoyed so much five years ago is out of my system. That was NUTS!! Since I was one of the elite 5% of the 80 people there that had previous rafting experience, they stuck me (well, I kinda volunteered... not sure what I was thinkin') in the front of one of their advanced, surfing boats... built for experienced types who like to tip over, bash into rocks, and generally get the crap knocked out of 'em. No footholds, no nothing... I should have floated down on an old log, it would have been safer.

Well, I had a blast, but the first words out of my mouth when I got into the car with my lovely wife, well out of earshot of the psychotic, maniacle river guides, were, "never again!" and "that was NUTS!!" followed by "I'm going to DisneyLand!" (I'm going to DisneyLand or DisneyWorld next week )

So tuck 'em into your pants boyz... you've been outdone, outclassed, and outstupided by the new king of hardcore!!! Hooorahhhh!

Can you all tell that its friday and my wife has family coming in which will prevent me from fishing this weekend... yeah, I'm gone! I guess I'll have to settle for sneaking away to my garage from time to time to sit in my new boat that I can't go fishing in. I can't fish from it b/c its still going thru the titling stage, but primarily because #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& said I can't fish from a boat.

Well, I'm gonna go home and play with my filet knife or something... hey Got Stripers and Mr. Kav, I managed escape Pluto and Donald Duck long enough to book a charter down in the Sebastian Inlet area for Tarpon, snook, reds, etc. Even though its not fishing because its not stripers and its from a boat, I'm pretty psyched. I've never fished southern waters before. I'll get some pictures on the board upon my return. Got any pictures of the tuna, marlin, and that leapin' shark? Maybe we can get John to set up a multi-species section, or garbage fish as they are oft called

I realize that this is striped-bass.com, but I think a few of us checked "other" on the fisherperson application in the species sought section.

Mr +Kav...about that house in Aspen...I'm the best skier in the world. Slalom, Giant Slalom, Down Hill, Bumps, Airials, even ripping it up down Tuckerman's and cliff jumping...you name it. Any chance of getting it for a week in February? Fishing is just too slow for me then. I need to go like 90 mph all the time!

Man and to think I have to go home tonight and explain to my daughters that all the trout they caught on our boat a few weekends back...well that just wasn't fishing. Or the smallies we caught. They'll be crushed!

Bill is just being Bill. Stiring the pot as he calls it.

John, maybe you can help me out here. Why is it, when I see threads like this, I have visions of old Tarzan movies with the apes beating their chests?
