Boiled linseed oil / mineral spirits?

What mix do you guys use on this for sealing? I'm guessing 50/50.I bought a qt. of each and an empty qt. paint can to keep the mix in and dip the plug into. I got a few cedar Pikies and hardwood needles that need a bath! If I remember I should dip the plug and hold under a few seconds then wipe the excess and let dry a few days?

Thanks,

Hank

Cedar don't need a bath,30 seconds or so wipe off let it hang for a couple of days put a coat of Binz on it then paint away and seal.Careful with the rag you use to wipe off with that mix is combustable.johnny "the Ratt Boy" btw, are you the same Surfster with that cool Van Penn reel

Im quoting someone else, but i dont remember who.
60/40 is the ratio. 60% boiled linseed oil, 40%mineral spirits, and its a 50 second dunk as i recall (thats where you might of got the 50 from). I Dont recall how he arrived at that, but he musta tested it and thats what yielded the best drying time with good penetration. Someone correct me if Im wrong.
As stated above, cedar does not need the treatment. but birch & poplar definitely do.

Happy Holidays !
