So Whatdya Do for New Year's

I'm always curious what people are up to on special days. Anyone do anything exciting for New Year's Eve? Ever hit TImes Square to see the ball drop or anything like that? How about New Year's Day? Any traditional foods? Hangover remedies? Around here you hear about a lot of people making pork and sauerkraut. Supposed to bring good luck thru the year (all it ever gives me is gas). So what do you do?

I stay home with the wife and have a few. Safer that way.

Wife works, I stay in with the kids to watch movies and get Chinese food. New years day is pretty much spent lying on the couch watching the rest of the Twilight Zone marathon

Stay in as well.....don't need the craziness.....many years past we went to 1st Night in Boston, and then a few years ago went to 1st Night right up the street in Foxborough, but they don't do that anymore.....

Many, many years ago, when I still lived in Jersey, I had the chance to see the Talking Heads at the Palladium in NYC on New Year's Eve, but unfortunately, I passed ..........(this was back before they were popular, like 1979 or so).........always regretted that....

As far as food, we do seafood, sort of a take off on the Italian Xmas Eve Feast of 7 Fishes.....Wednesday night we'll have mussels and clams marinara, and mabe some fried eel if I can get it. Thursday, we'll have smoked salmon and goat cheese, oysters, clams on the 1/2, shrimp cocktail, maybe some fried smelt, and then scallops and shrimp sauted with lot's of garlic and butter, served over pasta.....

Also, one thing my grandmother always said......put some coins outside your front door tomorrow night.....something to do with having money at the front door on New Year's morning bringing you luck and riches for the New Year.........

Whatever you do, have a SAFE and Happy one....
