What If

A very tight and selective Connecticut River Striper Fisherman Club was formed?

Who here would want to join it?

Its an Idea Ive had for a while now, Im just trying to get a little idea of people from here that would want in.

It would probaly be limited to 40 people and we would have meetings and banquets and all that stuff. It would all be local Western Mass and Connecticut People.

well

i would first question the tight and selective wording there. and wonder what that acomplishes.... are you forming a conneticut fishing team to fish against rhody's in tournaments? For example... or starting your own web site? People tend to follow the fish where ever the fishing seems hot with little regard for state borders.

The Club

the clubs purpose would be to form a bond of somesorts between the people that fish the river. Yes maybe they could compete against other teams in tournaments in the surf, which like me many people that fish the river also fish in the surf.

I belong to the Hartford chaper of the CCA most if not all the guys fish the Ct river for the spring run. I see and talk to a few guys from Mass. They meet the first Thuesday of the month with a speaker and a raffle. Right now they are changing there meeting spot will let you know when I find out where they are going to hold the meetings. It should be in the Windor or Winder Locks area. ThomT

Thom, we are most likely meeting at Ad's pizza. it is about 1 mile from the old meeting place, right across from the camper place. we will have it up on the CCA site soon.

Scarecrow, i doubt that it will work. it has been talked about, but there is not enough interest. i am still suprised the Shad club has lasted as long as it has.

Toby, as you know, fishing the river during the spring run can be a tough neighborhood. Majority of guys out there are tight lipped and are not going to share much with others.

I have started that club already. So far I am the president, vice president, secretary, and all other members. The name of the club is The Rappin' Mikeys. We are a very tight knit group. We also get lots of babes after landing many fish. Just kidding. I would join that little club. It doesn't have to be fancy. We could just fish a lot hear during the Spring and then go destroy the competition in tournaments from the Cape to Rhode Island. We could call our selves the Rappin Mikeys or just plain old Bomba.

seals + plovers =

Toby<

The Fish ended up weighing in at 19.87 pounds.
When I weighed it in the surf, It pulled this digital scale a guy had to about a little over 20 pounds. I think the sate record is about 20 or 21 pounds and that was caught in the late 70s or early 80s.

I thought I had it, probaly becuase it was a spur of the moment thing. That was some morning though, me and two other guys were the only ones out there and we proably caught and released 20 to 30 blues each all of the fish were easily over 15 pounds and all feeding in the first wave.

Unhappy You blew it man

You should have read the record book better, looks like you blew your chance for fame, if not fortune. This is what I found from Maine's records for bluefish:

Bluefish Denis Moran 19 lb. 10.56 oz. 8/8/94 Atlantic Ocean, Boothbay Harbor

I hope it at least tasted good
