Simple?

The simplest I've used so far on repaints that I have used is Clear enamel from a spray can. One coat and let it tack up for 15 min then one or two more coats. Too heavy and It'll peel.
Minwax clear poly in a spray can also works ok. It is an indoor application but also has held up ok. This also comes in a can you can brush on and looks good.
Neither of these will hold up to bashing on rock for an extended time or will it protect from bluefish teef! Eventually everything will fail it's just a matter of how long. I've had clear enamel hold up well for two seasons so far.
