Thanks guys....yeah Justplugit, I stayed up all night turning those. Your funny dude. Going out to buy a drill press tomorrow to thru hole em', then cut em' loose and check the needles for weight placement, drill for eyes and weights, prime, etc., hopefully have them done soon and will post a finished picture. I was really happy with the shape of the needlefish. I am gonna turn some bigger ones though....big bait=BigFish. Can't wait to catch fish on em' though....that will be the best part. I am enjoying building plugs, the best part of that is I won't have much time now for thread hijacking! Sorry....did it again!
T-Lap...I will see what I can do for you on that plug......don't wanna have you have to have me kick your a$$!

I wanted to drill them before I started of course (would have been the way to go) but I did not yet have a drill press. Thats why I left the wood on at the end so I can drill em tomorrow. I just wanted to see if I could turn a decent plug, so I went ahead and tried it. The needlefish are alot like the Spoffords needlefish cept' they are wood and a little larger. Always liked the Spoffords needlefish cept' for they are plastic! I will let you know how I make out "Johnny The Rat Boy".

Larry,
I always leave 1/8-1/4 inch square on the ends, makes it easier to mark and drill, that way you know that eyes are 90 degrees to the belly hole, weight holes, ect... and while the plug body is still on the lathe I take a pencil and mark the spot where you want to locate weights, eyes, hooks (with lathe running) that way when I go to the drill press you got your marks on the plug and square ends makes it easy to drill( supports plug). That's why I love starting with square stock, I have a MUCH harder time locating and drilling with dowells. Good luck buddy johnny "tRB"

Larry,
Also AYC is easier to drill out than harder woods.Just go SLOW and back out every 1/4 to 1/2 inch to clean it out.Usually do one side then flip it and go from other end, use longer drill if necessary to connect holes. With harder woods that's when the bit wants to wander (bend).Just trying to give you some info, and if you drill through the side of the plug or the holes don't line up....it happens , believe me, I know johnny "tRB"
btw, NJTackle has some pissa tail weights.
