I got to go w/ keep. But Just starting last year its not like I had an abundance of bass. I had 6 keepers kept 5 and released 1. I would have to say I would do both. Keep the occasional 1 to eat and release the rest

I would like to say release. I only keep 1-2 bass per year. I will keep a few more bluefish as the season goes on, and most all cod over 24" (just because I find them easier to clean at that size).

Keep!!....

As many as possible. After I've landed 5-6 fish, I call my better half to come out and get them.....and I start over again. If the fishings' that good, I hide them and return under the cover of darkness to retreive them. Placing some kelp over them keeps them fresher for those longer periods of time.

Doesn't fileting them before you release them kind of defeat the purpose.

What would the people from PETA think???

I keep very few stripers, maybe one or two each season. As far as I'm concerned, a 15 pound keeper is nothin' but a cow in training.

With bluefish, though, it's a different story. I like to eat those.

I think Eben is on to something here. You are not to filet bass till you get to the dock but if I filet and then release could that be ok.

I am sure the fish would swim away just as good fileted as if hooked deep by some yawho bait fisherman that ripes the hook out and then lets it go.

I “fin” them like those Japanese shark fisherman. The spines of the dorsal are an aphrodisiac.

Hey red, long time now bud..how's it been?.....You just reminded me of a funny night we shared together....Remember that night we had the bass stacked up during low tide? Everything we through at em' was getting whacked. How many bass did we have laying in the weeds that night?...We didn't even bother using the herring, remember??....We were tossing broken back rebels at em' and they were loving em'.....most of em' over 30 inches. Then that darn raccoon showed up...

....that was funny huh? Tried stealing our fish....you scared him away with the flashlight while I made bear-like sounds....that would have been a Kodak moment for sure, him on his hind legs, me COOOO-ing and GROWLing..lolol.... How many Bass did we score that night? .....I know I took home at least 14 fish. Then as I climbed the wall with some of the fish on a stringer a car was approaching and in my paranoia, I dropped the stringer and fish spilled all over the street...

, a night I'll never forget. I filleted them kind of quick...but I still got some meat off the carcases.

We'll be doing that soon again bud.

I keep maybe 1 outta 10 keepers. Blues come home more often. I have yet to catch a real cow, i imagine i would let her go. When fish get real big i feel guilty bout keeping them. They didnt get that size by being dumb. The keepers i bring home are usually bout 30" or so, i think they taste better. and since im usually only feeding myself there is no need to bring home a big one. I cant stand wasting fish, feel guilty if i have to throw the stuff out.

We get so many we release almost all. Keep 1 here and there . I never keep to go in the freezer. Only when I will eat right away or for friends and neighbors.

release. Out of the 450- 500 stripers I catch a year I keep one or two for the grill and/or smoker.

Maybe it's in my genes. I learned to fish from my father. My father fished for two reasons, and I believe they were equal in his mind & heart. Reason #1, enjoyment - Reason #2, Food. It was that much less $$$ that we had to spend at the market, being an immigrant...he didn't have a pot to pssss in.... If we had a good weekend of fishing, we had a solid week of eating fish. If the fishing was incredible, calls were made and fish was delivered. I think that stuck with me. My entire family loves fish, so sometimes on a planned fishing trip...I call ahead and see who's hungry for some fish...on the days I go on the fly, the fish get released.

When I read that some of you keep one fish per season, it boggles my mind. By keeping one fish, it shows that you enjoy eating fish. So why just one per season? Do you really think that by keeping 1 fish per outing, your hurting the stocks? I know, multiply the number of fishermen, yada yada yada......but c'mon, fish were created for 1 reason. FOOD!! Does your neighbor like fish? Do you like your neighbor? Do you even KNOW your neighbor???....I don't get it sometimes.....

My...how times have changed.

I keep my keepers. I'm careful and respectful with the schoolies. Fishing is the last place, other than hunting, where you can get wild meat. Hunting is out for me after nearly being shot twice in the same day by drunks. Striper fillets are a very much appreciated addition to my table.

The water where I live is still to dirty for me to think about eating anything that comes out of the water...would you eat a fish that came from a beach with this permanant year-round sign?
