Saturday Habby Hour

Since I got shut outta the MA trout opener me and Tattoo headed to Habs with a gallon of Bloody Polish Bullrakes just in time for Habby Hour.

I got to meet Mrs. Habs (she's very nice, I had never met her - hey, I thought she was Habs daughter when she answered the door). We poured a coupla drinks, Tattoo ho'ed John Jr's last beer - some guys have no morals - and we adjourned to Santa's workshop.

Man, I'd never been there before, I didn't know how to get to his place way up yonder - I'll tell ya got blown away, and it wasn't the vodka either. By the time we left several hours later, I was delirious - I thought I forgot my Habs hat in the shop and then looked down and realized it was hanging in my lap.

I also have to confess that me and Tattoo got Habs a little goofy and took advantage of him repeatedly - what a Mutt and Jeff act, certainly one of the most ruthless ho'ings I've ever seen or been a part of.

But ya know, now that I think of it, Habs actually seemed to enjoy it.

All kidding aside, if you know John then you already know how generous he can be. I even walked outta there with a converted chromed 704 - it's freakin' awesome, I've been wanting one ever since I saw one at the RISAA show and then when I saw the ported one that the guy did that was posted here I went right over the edge. Crafty's goin' retro old school this season. I polished the chrome with Formula 2000 when I got home last nite and it's sittin' here next to the keyboard - it just reminds me of a decked out HD 74.

I'm getting a GSB-120 1M done soon with silver wraps and black thread, yup that and a dozen eels, a coupla Habs needles and Tattoo's darters and I'm good to go.

Oh man, it's #$%@##$ great to be alive, life is schweeet.

Anyway, I had one of my cameras with me, as soon as I get the film back I'll post the pictures (I'm still old school, as soon as they come out with a digital that will produce a 50M file and shoot 20 fps, I'm there.) Habs has a buttload of needles he's finishing up for distribution pretty soon and I got some cool shots of them - he's just got his hands full, he's going full-tilt but took part of the day off yesterday - we all did - it's like those guys say, ya gotta stop every once in a while to smell the sawdust.

And no, I have no idea when the Tattoo and Habs stuff is gonna be ready - but soon they're saying. Tattoo had some back problems he's getting over now and Habs is doing everything he can - I gonna try to help him by tying his bucktails for the needlefish - it'll keep me outta mischief until the big girls show up for the dance.

Not like it was tough recruiting me - going thru Habs shop was like taking an alkie on a tour of Busch Gardens - boy, talk about takin' advantage of the elderly.

(Holy cwap, I just previewed this - I never shoulda put on that second pot of coffee...christ, I got diarrhea of the keyboard, Crafty's gotta switch to decaf.)

Anyway, I'll post the pix when I get 'em.

Hey, all ya gotta do is buy me a beer, Chris - no cheep domestic though - I ain't givin' it up for a Busch - but a PBR might loosen me up a little

John - I gave the keyboard some Immodium and stuffed a cork in it too.

Milo - well, not really, Tattoo got frisked on his way out and got caught with an old Gibbs in his trou - luckily there weren't any hooks on it. I got frisked too - hey, Moe, I'm innocent I tell ya! - there were tins falling out of my pants like silverware in a 3 Stooges movie. Shine, huh? I heard Gilly talkin' about that, we gotta talk - hey, how do ya say ****faced in Pork-a-Cheese? I can't remember now. E coodeesh - anyway, I'll be there with the man of ink scoopin' some little pez. I got a new net to break in. Got M-80's?

I did get away with an early Gibbs eel squid that had the Stripers Unlimited logo on it though - never saw one before, but Habs donated it to my collection on his own. He knows I looove tins for sunset, eels and plugs after dark.

Maybe we should start a "Things I've Ho'ed" thread...

Capesams, just so ya know -

Nobody 'bought' anything. Mike and John are personal friends of mine. Habs has a VERY strict policy about seeing that his retail outlets are the only outlets for his plugs and he doesn't sell 'blems' either.

Period.

Well, not quite.

If John has or had a problem with any aspect of my posts - which he hasn't so far - I'm sure he'll remind me of the rules. And I'm as aware of them as you are.

Bliz, I don't think you should get involved in this one. It surely has nothing at all to do with you and Al Gags.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Thanks, John - once a bouncer, always a bouncer.
Hey, why don't we all just belly up to the bar now and have a nice peaceable drink like John said .
.

That's better. Now let's keep it that way, gentlemen - the big girls'll be here soon enough
