At least put it in the reports area so it is not seen by lurkers.

So what if the run is full

that is what they do, they swim upstream. And for the past 5 years the run is a joke trying to get a bucketful with all the people trying to get them.

That run is the best managed run going, I hope it stays that way but the bluebacks are getting wiped out more and more every year because they come up later on when the stripers are around so they pay for that with their lives. Do them a favor and let them go further upstream to spawn and then get them on the way down somewhere else, I hear there's lots of herring runs all over the place. I get a permit for the run down my street every year, I don't know why I bother I haven't used it in years but I just want it in case I need to use it when maybe, just maybe there won't be a crowd of people there.

Maybe I can trade my herring permit for a beach permit

Ok I'll bite...who are you helpin out????

All permits for the run were sold out over a month ago and if someone has a permit they should know about the run.

If you are informing people that do not have a permit, all you are doing is tempting those people to break the Law.

So who is it you are helping be blabbing over the puter.

everyone should relax...middleboro is hardly a secret, non-res permits are sold out, and if you poach and get caught, the local pd will arrest your arse, fine you and confiscate your stuff...

maybe some people would just like to visit the run to see the fish

the list of taboo talk on the net grows longer everyday...

Dammit Slip now you gave away my secret bait!

It might be a nice change of pace to talk about the weather. It certainly would lower some blood pressures.

Jay - it's a tough balancing act. It's tough to be able to talk to some people about one thing online and then not talk about something else. Unfortunately you need to strike a balance and it sucks to strike that balance and that strike is rare. Ooops babbling...

If you talk too specific on spots, thousands flock to the spot, if you talk too much about a herring run, it gets overwhelmed, if you mention xxxxx is running out of xxxx and they'll be gone by xxxx. It all can create too much pressure on something, spot, or fish. Where is the right balance between sharing SOME information (not everthing as some hard won lessons should still be hard won), general locations, tips & tricks? Again, just real hard to be successfull at it. So while some people might be getting tweaked (some of the same people that did it in the past) there is some justification for it. Personally, I've done some temporary runs on a place that has caused me to rethink my approach a little and try to find the right balance.

The Middleboro run is always full of herring this time of year (end of second week in April) and has probably been since the indians discovered the Nemasket river thousands of years ago.

Now, whats happenning at the Mashpee, Bourndale and Wareham runs?

Anyone been to the dam at Horseshoe pond?
How about the nail factory?

The Nemasket river is just one small tributary that makes up the Taunton River drainage system. Look at all the brooks and rivers that eventually flow into Narragansett bay . I'd like to see the Salsbury Plain river clean enough to support a herring run some day. It flows right by my house.
