I'm still here, chillin'.

ever caught a big one, but at first thought you snagged the bottom?

ever snagged the bottom and thought you had a big fish?

ever hook yourself?

ever hook a boat while casting?

ever hook anyone else while casting?

ever slip on slippery rocks and hurt yourself?

ever get a flat tire while driving to your favorite spot, get there late and see other guys draggin' cows ?

ever fish with frozen bait 'cus you couldn't get fresh?

ever catch large on frozen bait?

ever get any useful fishing information from a internet forum?

Do you really think it's worth it so get a beach permit when big fish can be caught closer to home?

do you fish far off places, when the closest spot might produce a large?

do you prefer surf or boat?

do you have a boat and a buggy?

do you own only a boat?

do you think it's necessary to own a boat, a buggy (or both) to catch big fish?

would you rather catch one big one or a bunch of small ones?

ever get "surprized" (catching a bunch of small when a big comes along and snaps your line?)

just how big is big?

is it true, only really good fishermen land big?

can I brag about how good a fisherman I am if I only catch a bunch of small ones?

if I fish Cuttyhunk, in a boat, at night, will I catch big?

got room in your boat for another guy?

got room in your buggy for another guy?

how do you fish a jig?

is this a real red gill or a fake?

will a fake red gill catch as good as a real red gill?

do wood plugs catch as good as bait?

how do you rig a squid?

do you say a prayer before and after you catch one?

ever spit on your lure for luck?

do you think "luck" has anything to do with being a good fisherman?

do you get more satisfaction catching a fish on a lure/plug you made yourself?

I'm a chunker, is that so bad?

I'm an eel purist, is that so bad?

is a fish caught on a home made lure "better" than a fish caught on bait?

how do you keep weeds off your hook?

do you troll with the tide or against the tide?

when do you start catching large?

what lure/ technique have you been most successful with?

ever get a birdsnest in your wire line?

ever get wire line wrapped around your propeller?

ever get cuts from fishing line?

ever snag a lobster pot/line?

whats the best chum?

do you talk to yourself more than normal when your fishing?

ever caught a striper on a frozen clam neck?

do you use scup for bait?

ever caught a striper using a choggie for bait?

do you fish for anything besides stripers?

do you leave your favorite spot cleaner than when you first arrived (clean up any trash)?

I've only started

I still have a million questions.

I wish he would change his name. There is only one Striperman, and most of us know who that is = one of the Mass. state record holders of striped bass, the one who did it from shore. He is a member here on this site and atleast 3 or 4 others, he doesn't post much anymore. Maybe you could do him a courtesy and ask Johnr to change your name to something else?????

I guess some of the guys on here didn't like my "approach" to this site. I tried to ask lighthearted questions related to fishing "mishaps" that a fisherman might encounter.

Ever had a big fish snap your line?
ever had the hook pull out on a big fish (and have it bring a tear to your eye)?
ever set on a big one, only to "misshook" and fall on your keister?
does anyone make "rockproof" line?

Are herring considered a "flying fish"? (I had a couple go flying by my head, fishing with "the crowd" at the Bourndale herring run).

I'm not upset at anyone that criticisized me for posting less than
"serious" posts. It was a long cold winter. Everyone gets cabin fever (some sooner than others).

I'm surprized (sometimes) that I still love fishing as much as I do. As teenagers me and my brother would take the tin boat to various places. Used to start April first in Duxbury bay fishing for flounder, Onset harbor in mid March. You'd be lucky to catch a spider crab there now. Barnstable was always good for a couple hundred pounds of macks the first week of May. Bass at the run, the Weweantic. 'Tog and flounder in Buzzards bay. Scorton ledge always has a few good ones . Cod and pollak at the east end. Blues, bass, squet, scup, black sea bass. We always got our "100 pounds plus one fish". The fish markets were happy to see us. Paid for gas, bait, food.
Fishin' is "different now, not as "simple". Still just as much fun. I go groundfishing a few times each year with him still, nicer boat. My friend "Ed" has a Winebego "Brave" 4wd camper. Those trips to Nauset are always fun, Race Point to. But, my favorite will always be the canal.
Those west end holes always produce on a east tide, day or night

Striper fishing is like an intoxicating narcotic. Theres no other high like pulling large.

When you get bit by the striper bug you are never the same.

Is this kind of activity something a "normal" person would do?

Do you make your own lures?
Ever spend your hard earned $$$ to persue your quarry, only to release it after it's captured?
Ever leave your nice warm bed, and possibly your nice warm spouse, to persue fish?
Ever spend your precious "spare time" doing striper fishing related activities?
Ever think about striper fishing? all the time?
Do you leave for striper fishing at an even earlier time in the morning than you normally leave for your "normal" work?
Do you spend as much $$$ on your spouse as you do on fishing?

Hmm
Ya, striper fishing is still fun, but not a "money making" proposition for most people any longer (hasn't been for a long time)

I still take some for my next door neighbors (in their "70's) and my mom and dad (in their '80's). They appreciate it.

To those of you who liked my posts, well thats ok. If you didn't like them, thats ok to.

I'd like to be able to post messages.

Do you like fishing for Stripers?
