Squid

Anybody seen any yet? When do they arrive on the south side? Should be soon I would think.
Any help would be appreciated.

Spoke with the owner of Sam's,he told me jigged his first squid last year on the 18th which was about a week before I tried for the first time. The water was also considerably warmer this time last year.
Don't ask me where,I'm not going through THAT again.

Thanks, I'm not asking where. Only if they're showing up.

Same here, around the 18th or so, but I didn't start to see sheets of them until early May. Last year I got an 18Ib striper on the 18th of April. The fish hit a squid jig and gave me a great battle. Went scouting today--the water temperature outside was 40 degrees, the water in the ponds was 45 degrees. These temperatures I recorded at seven this morning, so they may have come up a bit since then. Shouldn't be long. Pink jig on the top and a dark one on the bottom. The bottom jig should be a slow sinker and the top one should be neutral. Can't wait.

I was out on Vineyard Sound today. No squid boats out yet. I'd expect to see them in a week or two.
