Canal early am

Saw my first school of peanuts this year today.Seems a little late this year. Got a 32in and a rat on rubber. A rat and 1 just under 30lbs on eels. Could not buy a hit on plugs or metal on breaking fish.

All fish this morning were between 20-28" but very aggressive. Lots of bait fish during slack this morning and yesterday.

Well it's good to hear that there is some bait down there again. I was down in the mid canal area monday night and didn't see any bait or fish busting for the 4 hours I was there, not one. I managed one small bluefish for my efforts and my buddy got a couple storms chopped in half.

Most of my time down the Canal this year has been early mornings when the tide is right, 3am - 730am. Within the last 2 weeks I started seeing alot of baitfish in big pods, looking like silversides last week and peanuts this week. Indeed, this is a good sign.....

Moses, thanks for the info. I have found the same thing this year as far them turing on in the early mornings. The problem with that is having to work after! I have gone down and done it a few times this year with success but I am usally junk the rest of the day at work. work and sleep is over rated though so I will most likely be down there tomorrow morning.
