Angry Height Is Not A Factor In Popularity Studies Show?

Who the hell makes these stupid, ridiculous studies and most important....who the hell is funding them???? We need someone to spend millions of dollars on a study to find out if being tall or short has an effect on how popular a person is??? I see these idiotic studies on the news almost on a nightly basis and I think to myself...." we are spending billions of dollars a year on studies to find out things like....are tall people more popular than short people? And if this were found to be so....would we need to change it because short people need to be more popular? ". I did my own study about studies.....I have found that scientists have run out of anything worthwhile to study and are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for things to scrutinize....and at what cost? Here are a few things they could study in their free time.....1. People with brain wave activity find most of the studies done to be totally irrelevent to daily life and those with less or no brain wave activity could care less! 2. Is obescity truely a result of inactivity or is it a direct result of an individual stuffing everything they can chew into their mouth and swallowing it? 3.If an individual fishes with bait on his hook, is he more or less likely to catch a fish than someone who simply fishes with a bare hook? HHHmmmmm....all very fascinating and relevent questions to which, hopefully soon, we may have answers to thanks to the folks who spend an inordinate amount of time and money on such trivial matters!!! Ahhhh.....scientists.....making life better by applying all that they know about the obvious!

Why didn't they do a study to see if being popular makes you taller or shorter? Instead of does being taller make you popular?

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

On the stupid studies issue, I think there's money the government sets aside as grants and if people can "sell" their idea and if it meets with approval, off they go to do their study. I spent a summer with a guy from South Dennis taking samples in to salt marshes all over the Cape on grant money. His theory was that where there were cat-o-nine tails in a salt marsh it was an indication of fresh water, because that's where they grow. I don't know if he was thinking of tapping the springs and marketing it or what.

On the height versus popularity study, I did my own. The guy who sits next to me is about the same height as me, he has graying hair, I don't, though I'm older. He's got more of a spare tire and each of our first names can be shortened to three letters. We're pretty much the same, except he has a steady flow of single women coming to his office all day long. I get nada except for the occasional, "I stopped by a couple times today, but he wasn't there. Do you know when Joe will be back? Could you tell him I stopped by."
I firmly believe popularity as loosely defined by the study is definitely measured in inches, but not height. Either that or there's something about a wedding ring that single women totally shy away from.

In that case they ought to be measuring popularity in dollars and cents!

I once heard that people that plug fish are smarter than bait fishers . I dont know if this is true but it makes as much sense as the tall vs short . Im very poopular and am not an inch over 5.6 ft . yes there are a lot of ladies that stop by my office on a daily basis . its always when Im not there ! there are always notes " I stopped by today but you werent in " gale , tammy , suzie , claire and ( the south american girl from the first floor ) . did I mention Im italian ?

Larry, there are real-world implications arising from these kinds of studies.

For example, taller people generally make more money than shorter people (this seems to be borne out by numerous surveys.)

There could be legal and social (and thus legislative) repercussions - imagine suing your employer because you think you are being discriminated against because you are short!

Then there is the biological. What is it about our built-in predilection towards tall and good-looking people? (Larry, don't pat yourself on the back just yet, one out of two ain't bad ) Does this bias serve an evolutionary purpose? If we understand what drives that, we learn a little bit more about ourselves as human beings.

classic quote that might fit the bill....

Classy Freddie Blasse (fmr wrestler, announcer and fountain of undellible wit) said in his one recorded song "Pencil neck geeks"
"... these guys are a dime a dozen, and I'm looking for the guy supplying the dimes!"

Kind of puts the whole "cow burp" studies in a diffefrent light.

I'm just getting wound up for next week's vacation.
Just think, a whole week of fishing.
I've already told everyone that you won't be seein' my sorry arse except when I wake up in the afternoon to head out fishing for the night.

Things done at the last possible minute are done with the greatest possible information. Procrastination is, therefore, the most efficient means of doing things.

I think WEARING a wedding ring when you are middle aged will get more gals flocking to you. I swear that is true. I stopped wearing mine because I got the knuckle messed up and then need it to be resized (some jerk ends up stealing on me anyway- I hope that scumbag gets run over by a slow moving elephant). I use to have gals talk to me all the time. Got so use to not wearing one now that I forget to put it on when we go to family events now.

whats worse - fishing late at nite or hanging out in the bars?
