Be REAL careful out there, Duke -

I was out there last nite and there's a helluva swell running with bigger outside long-duration sneaker sets mixed in.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

I'll be interested to hear how you do today. We spent the morning out there yesterday without so much as a nibble. Tried everything from trolling t&w, umbrella rigs, to herring chunks - nada! No bait in the water either.

A set of four rogue swells almost did away with me last night.

Stayed for about 30 minutes drifting eels. Fishing was poor. Headed down the bay for seabass and scup. Which was decent.
