Rental cars

Anyone have any experience with renting cars through Orbitz.com, Hotwire.com etc? Going to NC for a wedding next weekend and need some transportation. As it stands right now it's gonna cost well over two bills! Is it better to rent closer to the arrival time? Any other less expensive options aside from a bike? Thanks.

What? No. We can't stop here. This is bat country. -HST

Just search the different sites as they have different discount agreements. You can sometimes score sweet deals on the sites where you say what you want to pay, often the lower end dealers will take a lowball offer.

Unless you can find some sort of sale, you're better off getting the reservation secured so you don't have to worry about it.

I just rented a mini van from enterprise for 279 ( 62 a day ) for 4 days . they wanted 377 but the enterprise 4 miles up the road was for 279 ( regional ) ( my ass ) so they gave it to me at that price . They have the best price in my area .

i rent every week because of my business travel and you can also get better prices from Budget, Dollar and Enterprise than from Avis or Hertz. Also if you are a AAA member you can get a discount at any of those guys also.

No boat, back in the suds.

Go onto the Enterprise.com website and look at rates down in NC, they have internet specials.

Thanks for the info guys, I actually just rented a car at the very last minute from enterprise. Which worked out well, beacuse it cut the cost in half ($130)...just a little hint if any of you need one in the future.
