Mike, i think you need to be the first guy in RI with a fully modded out purple saltiga! that new 6500EXP has been on eBay for a little while now. 6.2 to 1 gear ratio.

NIce stuff. Thanks for posting. I'm hoping they make the GT spool for the 4500 although I know you mentioned it still cast pretty good with the regular one right?

What do you think about the expedition model?

Check out this site:

http://www.japantackle.com/Daiwa_ree...iga_z_spin.htm

I asked about this EXP model and the guy who runs this site out of Japan informed me via email that the only difference from the regular 6000 (for an additional $75) is the color and the round knob. It also holds a little more line. They also sell an EXP with a 4.3:1 gear ratio.

Nice looking though.

Cool

Tattoo,

Would be wicked cool to see your name laser-engraved on the spool... in phonetic Japanese.

How about the Saltiga Blast on that site? Looks like the same waterproof drag and many of the same parts for $350. Maybe doesn't come in Purple!!!!

I got my reel from a shop in NY, not over seas.

I have it loaded with 25 yards of 20lb mono and 275 yards of 50lb power pro. It loves braid.

I just need to find a site in the US that seels those fancy spools and handles.

it is not "waterproofed" like the high end saltiga. it is the same reel made with lower quality components.

yeah, you need another rod. how many are collecting saw dust on the roof of that garage???

you could always match 1205 #2 w/ purple thread like your other purple rod. but, i think that pink saltiga would look nice w/ some matching pink met thread there honey. go get some nice pink ande and put a pink spook on. then, take a ride to p-town.

or, just buy a saltiga to match all those rods you already have! i see at least 5 colors you have there. better start turning some more wood!

I cant decide whther to make a VS purchase or a Saltiga this winter. Too much $ to buy both. Im so happy with the way my Daiwas and Spheros casts and handle braid.

Decisions decisions!

A Saltiga 4500 weeighs about the same a 706 or VS 200 doesnt it?

Unless the currency conversion site I went to is wrong, 84000 JPY converts to roughly $813.50 US dollars.

No boat, back in the suds.
