I think it's more the excessive caffine (when you crash you eat) plus when I'm awake 18hrs a day vs 16 or so, I eat more... especially at night... oh well, such is life, I can be a 5x5 if I can get a 5-0

Well - that explains it all. For the last 25 yrs I have averaged well below 5 hrs a nite. I find if I sleep MORE than 8 hrs I feel useless.
I learn that if I wake up early in the am - I just get out of bed and do stuff until I am sleepy again. If I try to lie there I roll around and wake my wife up. It is a miracle she hasn't suffocated me yet.
Who here has sleep apnia? I got it real bad. They look at my sleep study data and at me and say: you should weight over 350+ lbs. I'm a like a fire hydrant, but closer to 200 lbs.

I do not know about everyone on this thread....but I do not think that reelecstasy, Bigfish, or notaro qualify as hefty fisherman.
me on the otherhand....I haven't slept in 20 years....I can support this theory.....

I had sleep apnea. Ask your Dr. he will refer you to a sleep clinic. I was over 350lbs. I finally got a C-PAP. It helps you breath at night. I got on a diet and exercise plan and I am down over 130lbs so far. I did bounce a little bit, but i am on my way back down again.
If you have trouble staying awake, especially driving at night, in boring meetings, at your desk at work, boring stuff. talk to your doc. It changed my life.

MetroWest Medical (Natick - off Union Ave) - I was refered to there by my physican. I had sinus surgury couple of yrs back to help correct the apnia - it didn't do me any good IMHO. Next step is cutting away the excess tissue around my tonsils, BUT I heard that the tissue CAN grow back. The sinus surgury had me flat out for 1 week and when I tried to go back to work (Spring time allergies kicked in) and got house bound again for another week.
I have a CPAP machine - used it for 3 months and HATED it - I can use it if I sleep alone. When you break the seal the air hisses out and would wake up my wife. I sleep on my stomach so that makes things difficult.
Snoring loudly and a lot IS a sign of apnia. My wife tells me I stop breathing for long periods of time and she nudges me so I wake up - so far my body wakes itself up.
I feel tired a lot of times. When I am tired I go take a nap, or go to bed. If you are very overweight (get winded walking stairs or to the mailbox) if the apnia doesn't get you then diabetes WILL.
I need to drop some weight as well. Last time I went to a talk about sleep apnia - one guy excercised and dieted a lot and found that helped a lot w/ his SA. He didn't have to use his CPAP machine any more !
If you have more questions you should talk to your physician about it and they can route you to a specialist.
