Alone in the Wilderness

Anybody watch this on PBS last night?

Talk about balls. this guy set out in Alaska w/ pretty much nothing and Built a Cabin and Homesite from just the available materials. Lived there for almost 30 years. No modern Comforts, his fridge was a moss covered hole in the ground.

Sure makes me feel like a Wuss when I'm pissing and moaning about Parking at the Back of the lot on a cold day.

If you get a chance to check this out its well worth the watch.

YEAH I saw that!!!! Me and my son watched that with our jaw open! On **warm** day in the winter....-30 deg. it was august and it went down to 28 deg! at night. Sun sets in Dec and does not come up for months.
Mail...once a week and he is happy to get it!

I like his telephone setup, he has a crude fm broadcast to get telephone....says quality sucks but at least it is something.

Fishes, hunts grow potatos and cuts wood. That is about it.

I think if I wanted to get away from it all I would find an island in the so. pacific and spend more time fishing and working on my tan then trying to keep a shack above freezing. I told my wife aI could do that for a few years but after that I would want to do more fishing in warmer temps.

The truckers drive over 1000 (rt) miles with NOTHING they built a station about half way so they could stop.

that was a cool show.

Great show. I was surprised at how well documented it was.
