The next world record striped bass.

Hey striper fans. Here is something for you to think about, as if you don't think about it all the time. Where do you think the next world record bass is going to commit suicide?

RE:The next world record striped bass.

Good one, other than to say on my eel, let's divide this into two categories, boat and surf:

Spring, Summer, Fall - Boat, One old standby that has produces many two handed bass is the Elizabeth Islands. Cinto got his Mass record fish there off a boat. Incredible areas with which to access by boat. Not very accessible by foot... Rips off the Cape, Race Point maybe, Block, Montauk, The Race off Fisher's Island. Could happen off South County, Rhode Island.... Final answer = Montauk in Early November... (premonition)

Fall, Winter, Spring - down your way off Jersey... Chessapeke, Hatteras, Doug's Assateague... Not as familiar down that way.

Spring, Summer, Fall - Landed from Terra-firma: Montauk, Block, Outer Cape and Islands, or one lovely spot in Rhody where you can see Montauk and Block at the same time <img src="/Images/biggrin.gif"><!--e7-->...
Final Answer = My Eel (premonition) but probably Block in late Oct or beginning of November...

Fall, Winter, Spring - Anywhere along the migratory path as we wave good-bye from the North...

OBX from whar I hear...

Hopefull answer, on my eel

My fear, the World Record Striped Bass will get caught in some net off the Carolinas as we will probably never see the true world record bass...

( Some resevoir in Cali?? )

RE:The next world record striped bass.

By boat, I would say off the Virginia/Carolina coast or around the mouth of the Chesapeake between December and the beginning of May. From what I hear, this area was never fished heavily until recently and it's where the big gals winter over prior to the spawn, and exit afterwards. Another possible spot is those traditional places around the Vineyard/Elizabeth Islands, like Sow&Pigs, Quick's and Robinson's Holes, Devil's Bridge, and the holes around Squibnocket. Third choice would be where the record was briefly held, Plum Gut and the Race around Fisher's Island off the North Fork of Long Island.

From shore, Block Island in late October, the Vineyard in late September/early October and the backside beaches from June into late September, in that order. Montauk no longer produces the big fish the way it once did, the big herring runs in November aren't happening anymore. That's where the percentages are best, the backside because big fish probably spend more time close to shore there than they do anywhere else, and the others because they possess great structure and the big bass spend a lot of the fall pigging out in those spots.

Ok, those are some really good places you have listed. I guess all we can do is do what we have been doing all along and fish for bass whenever we possibly can, and hope to catch the next "big one." I have a strong feeling the next record is going to come from the Delaware bay on a bunker chunk, sometime in the fall of this year, on an outgoing tide, by a guy named Ron, hey but that is just a feeling.
