That looks a little oval. plus on the musso eye.the center is flat.in other words if the eye is 1/2".3/8's of the center is flat he would put a sticker eye on it.an 1/8 around the perimeter is beveled down like 1/8 or a little better.I think he special ground something along the lines of a big countersink or a router bit. One would think it would walk though.

take a fuller PLUG cutter, sink it 1/8 deep, then take a brad point and drill out the center till it's flat.

I figured a 2 step process would do it but i don't thin he went that route.an plus there is no hole from a pilot or brad point.I still thin he had a special ground bit for it.

It will have to be used in a drill press but it can easily make that shape.

Nib, I believe there is a router bit close to what you describe, and it could easily be modified so you get it the way you want it then it can be one operation. But if you're Capesams, you don't mind 2 operations, right Steve?
