New Forum

After a lot of soul searching, I decided to create a new forum for the far from fishing related topics that we have... For example, someone new coming to the site may be a little confused by TheLongestThread and wonder just what the heck is going on....

So while it will be fine to put up some non-fishing stuff in the main StriperTalk forum, this is probably a better place for the odds and ends....

Thanks,

John

Was one on North Main just across form Universith Heights back around 88, don't know if it still exists though.

There is also one right off 95 in North Haven right on the harbor.

I guess Rusty Scupper is OK, but the name seems to be well used and implies a lack of proper maintenance as well.

There was also one called that in West Orange New Jersey, years back, and it was very good. Last time I passed it, it was a Ground Round, or something

Hey, how about "The Livewell"?

Okay, okay, it was just a thought. I don't have 'em that often.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

"The Livewell" - that's good too... or "The Stinky Livewell"? or "Stinky Beach"?

Bloo - don't you think the Estuary would seem to upperclass for the down and dirty of that forum?

Teh Rusty Scupper of you speak is in New Haven . I wish it was in North haven . I would have sound front property . North Haven is about 15 miles north of the sound . Just wanted to clarify .

Also right off the pylons in front of the Rusty Scupper is where Steve Franco caught his 75 # striper ( 3rd largest caught on a rod and reel ) in skinny water on a bunkerhead he was going to throw away , only he didnt have too much bait left so he used it .

chris, most of the time I'm traveling through there it's at high speed doing a 360 degree recon for other RI drivers I need to stay away from

That water looks pretty nasty, but knowing of the legendary 75 I always want to stop and take at least a couple casts.

"Honey, mind if we stop so I can take a couple of casts, the kids are asleep?"

"But someone caught a 75 pounder right there"
