Being 18, sex, drugs and rock n roll of the early seventies and the Cape went it was still a wild and free place and the fishing we had then, most of you guys have no idea what it was like. (Guess I ain't a good role model but what the hell I'm honest!)

Ahhh, Old Cape Cod. I really miss that, sometimes I feel out of place and time there. Until I find myself alone on the Backbeaches, not a soul as far as the eye can see. Not even a footprint. Today, they can't build trophy homes fast enough. As a kid I remember abandoned houses available for the back taxes in Truro. We played in them "Haunted Houses"! My Grandfather was an engineer at the Cold Storage in N. Truro and would bring fish home for supper, Whiting( when was the last time you saw one of those?) or Haddock and clean it at home. (Across the street from his work). Yep it's changed.....

BBJ... Flap too... U guys know what I mean
Somone mentioned cottages...SquidKidsDad.. I miss the cottage colonies.. some left, most plowed down, or "condoed"... remember "winterized "cottages, small "starter" homes...not today... tear 'em down, build 4,000 square foot ugly boxes, most of 'em prove that my brother was right... he's a carpenter, he'd always say that "Architects are living proof that some kids shoulda never played with crayons"........
I miss running free. fish where I want, clam where I want, drive where I want... No Beach Sticker!! Just Go! I miss going to the store and seeing people I know, I can walk the aisles of the Stop and Shop.. in January even... and maybe only know like 3 people... years back, ya knew everybody shoppin in the place, it was always a gab fest... how 'bout this one.... going with a few other guys to the dump on a Saturday night.. before they used to lock it, didn't even have a fence around it!... case of beer, some 22's with flashlights electric taped to the barrel... shoot the rats.. the cruiser would come down, cop would shine the flood light so we could see better.. before he'd leave, he'd just say.. not too late boys.. 10 o'clcock... OK? and one of you lay off the brew, and be the driver... don't shoot each other fer chrissake! that'll never happen again.. but we had fun, and survivied... no harm, no foul, nobody got hurt.. 'cept the rats.

What's with all the bald bashing???
Sorry to hijack, but I just read all the posts.
With the exception of the Cape stuff (I moved there with RM in 95, we had nothing to do and I think we went fishing as a team five times, although I went almost every day!!!), I miss many of the afore mentioned things as well.
Schlitz, I drankem, but I didn't lovem Jimbo!!!
In short, I'm one of those guys very content with my life now, for reason number one:
I NEVER HAVE TO ASK TO GO FISHING!!!
lOVE,
rICK
